What do you all think about this book? Does it really work? Is it really worth it? Please let me know what you think.

I, myself, didn't buy it! Just thought should get a response. I think there are a couple of us who have, but I'm not sure who they are!

I do have that, but I didn't make it past the first chapter! Dr. Phil seems to ramble on and on endlessly about the same things! I could see how it would be helpfull, but I already "discovered" my emotional problems before I bought the book and I needed to get to the next part.......About 20 pages in, he is still going, " the information I'm going to give you is going to change your life" well give it to me already, gees change my life already and shut up! LOL!!!! Don't get me wrong I love Dr. Phil. And I love his -tell it like it is- mentality. But for someone who is so straight forward, he was sure babbling a lot. It seemed like he was trying to fill a lot of empty pages!

Then maybe his book isn't very good for me cause unless it gets into it right off the bat I lose all intrest in it all together! I like reading True Crime books if that tells you any thing! LOL I just can't stand all that rambling...you know what I mean!! hahahaha

I LOVE those kind of books. I got so excited when I saw that you like them too. Of all the books I've ever read, the only ones I remember being really into are the true story criminal mystery ones. They can really freak you out though. I read one once that really got to me because it took place near where I live. And you don't even want to know WHAT took place! lol !!!

Yeah, I can understand why they would freak you out like that! I think I'm the same way, if I read a book and it happened some where near me......catt stops reading the book and goes to hide!! LOL No, not really. I finish the book, but I just make sure I don't ever read it again! I've got about ten books here and I'm trying to decide which one I want to read! LOL I was looking on ebay for some, then I remembered ...hey catt, you got some true crime books up in the closet! You can imagine how fast I stopped looking at ebay! hahaha We have a book store near us that carry true crime books too. That's where I got the one's that I have now!

Well I have to go make my hubby his cigs! I'd love to talk to you more about this subject if you want to! :)

It's pretty good. A lot of the stuff mentioned is talked about here on the boards but I love the added stuff, the cookbook, calorie chart, meal planner and weight loss chart. I use them every day.

Ok thanks! I may ask my hubby to get it for me! I was going to ask him to get Dr phil for me, but if he just rambles on I don't think I would be interested. The calorie chart that you were saying you had that came with it, does it cover a whole lot of foods? I mean, Banana's grapes, pickles..you know small things too.

I didn't mean to discourage you from getting the Dr. Phil book! I was just explaining why I hadn't read the whole thing. It is very informative. Mabey you should check it out at the library (if they have it already) or see if any friends have one you can borrow!........At the time when I started reading it, I had already started to lose weight, and I was also very busy and didn't have time for a book that I didn't NEED to read. I hope this makes sense! I do plan on picking it back up soon, I just haven't had time for any book!......Basicly, it's a self-help book, and I had already learned how to help myself so reading it was a waste of time for me!

Well I can certanly understand that! I don't know, I still might get it. To be honest I still do want it! I called my local WalMart and they told me that they have it!! Think I'm going to get it and see if it can help me! :) I would like to know what these 7 steps are to weight loss.

John Grisham is a lawyer turned writer from Mississsippi. He has written "Thr Firm", "The Runaway Jury", "A Time to Kill"... just to name a few. I really like his books. I especially like "The Firm" since it is partly based in the area I grew up in Florida... he describes it so well... that I can see myself driving down the very same roads.

Catt,

Got to Dr Phil's Website (www.drphil.com) and they have a whole area about the Weight Loss challenge and lots of info about what is in the book. I haven't read it, but I would like to. I keep checking the library from time-to-time to see if it is in.

I started my program before he even had a book, and a lot of the info I put together on my own echos what he says in the book--especially the part about being fat has more to do with what goes on in your head and your life than what goes into your mouth.
