Hey all,
It looks like everything is going as well as it can be with the wrist. Next Wednesday they are going to X-ray one more time (Hey! That's what they said last time!), check it, and if it's still good, and they said it is very unlikely after three weeks that it wouldn't be, they will put a short cast on for Thanksgiving. They would have preferred to wait till Friday but they are closed. Then ''six weeks after injury" they will remove that cast.
So it's kinda going as well as I had hoped, and maybe even a bit better. It hurts less and less as time goes on, and I'm learning to do more and more things with one hand! I have this theory that God was trying to teach me patience, although it would have been nicer if he'd have just made some burning bush say "Hey you! Be more patient!" I would have listened, really!
Thanks for caring...
Eric

Great! No surgery! Congratulations! You'll be shoveling piles of wet leaves with ease in no time. Just a little something to look forward to.

Ah Miranda! Always with the happy thoughts!
Shoveling wet leaves with ease sounds pretty good right now. Shoveling is really difficult with one hand and I've been doing a lot of that!
Glad to see you have your sense of humor on! I hope your "happy gadget" is on too!

Good news! Short casts are good because you can stick sharp objects in there to scratch!! Then you will be the one with a happy gadget in your hands!

I've never had a cast, but I can only imagine it's got to suck! I'm glad to hear you are doing well.

Yipee for you!!!
I was just thinking about you last night at work...I was coding a wrist fx (followup xray...just like you) :) and I was wondering how your wrist was.
My mom fell off a ladder about 6 mo ago...and she had to have much of the same treatment that you are having...her "temporary" cast was crazy long though...and looked UNCOMFORTABLE!! Sounds like you are fairing much better...
Great news Eric...sounds like you will be back in the saddle in no time!!! You must be healing so well because you are in such good shape!!! :)

Glad to hear it Eric. I know you're just itching to get back on that bike. I've started looking at Tri bikes. I have a Fuji road bike with mountain handle bars. It is an overall comfort bike and I need to start looking for something more suited for racing.
I may ask for pointers as I narrow down my selections.

Funny you should mention that--I have been declared basically "heart healthy," so on Monday, I begin my regimen of being "shocked" into happiness by a medical happy gadget composed of electrodes and such. I hope it works and makes me really, really happy, because otherwise, when I look at my medical bills, I actually WILL have a heart attack. Wish me luck!

Miranda:
I am not completely educated in this area...but..I have read many charts from patients who have had ECT....it seems to have positive effects for these people. I hope that it does the same for you. My MIL suffers from depression... I watch her deal with it all the time. You will get through this...and there will be a light at the end of the tunnel!! :)
Best of Luck with your ECT.

Does anyone remember that movie? Was it "Mommy Dearest"?
When you mentioned the coat hangers, I had to think.... I don't own any wire hangers! All plastic here!
Glad to hear you are healing well! So does this mean you will able to do the Lifecycle ride? When is that anyway?

Good news Eric...Are you sweating in your cast?....My daughter was seating a bit much and the cast started to fall apart in some spots so they added some layers of fibreglass over the intire cast to make sure she has the proper support....She goes back in one week from today and hopefully won`t need it after that...G
