one isn't better than the other as they both have their benifits. The best plan is combine the two. Gym I am sure can cover much better.

I heard that if you can separate the two. If not it's best to do weights followed by cardio. If you check out this month's issue of Her Muscle & Fitness, they have a workout plan in there and it tells you to do weights followed by your cardio routine.

You may already know, but as far as weights, you should only work the muscles every other day - for example, one day do your lower body/leg weight exercises and cardio and the next day do your upper body/arms weights and cardio. The muscles need a day to recover/rebuild before the weight training again.

Weights then cardio is most effective. Best to have a strong weights workout and then do your cardio so that your muscles are pushed to the max.
Good for you for doing both already!

seperate them at either end of the day...if u cant do that then do weights first...this will void your body of stored glycogen generally....then when u do cardio, this is the only time i recommend long drawn out cardio purely because your in a catabolic stage from weights(this is why u should go home, have something to eat like protein or carbs and rest it out for around 8 hours)...atleast with long drawn out cardio you body is void of glycogen and has no choice but to use fat as fuel (predominately) and starts doing so immediately.

this past week we were off from school so i had time to go to the gym often. i wanted to go every day but knew i would get burnt out so i tried that whole weights one day cardio the next (that is supposed to be better than doing one after the other like i've been doing) and lemme tell ya, i love it. if i had time normally to go every day (or at least 5-6 times a week) i'd totally stick to it. it cuts my gym time down (spend about an hour each morning) been doing an hour of cardio (30 min high intensity, then 2 15 min lower intensity machines) and i have much more energy and motivation to do it. then on my weight days i spend an hour and do two body parts instead of one since i have time and get a good workout that way too. so even though i know everyone doesn't have time to seperate their workouts (i will have to go back to the weights then cardio next week) i highly recommend it if you do have the time.
