Last night after dinner ( shouldn't have been hungry ) I got the munchies. I really wanted to eat something else but did not know what I wanted. I ended up having a 3oz cup of lime sherbet and then I had a small bowl of dry cereal (fruit harvest-apple).... This snack attack added at least 200 calories to my total for the day. I don't know my total, though.
tonight I have the same feeling..*like i want to snack on something..... what do you do when you feel like you could go raid the pantry or fridge and sit down to stuff your face???

me........I turn off the light in the kitchen......and do not allow myself to turn it back on. I don't know why it just helps late at night.

Sit down with a glass of water and stay out of the kitchen. Or, to occupy my time I check my email and this board. If no one has emailed me, I write a "hi how are you I'm bored" letter to one of my friends. They know I have an email problem (may need counseling, I'm addicted, LOL). But, it does seem to get me past the craving until I can go to bed.

Sorry, but, I refuse to starve myself to lose weight. If I'm hungry, I eat. If I'm not, I don't. Plain and simple. It is VERY DIFFICULT for me at night to notice the difference between being hungry and/or eating out of habit, so, each time I eat, no matter what time of the day, I ask myself "am I really hungry?".
Most of the time, when I'm not hungry, I don't eat. But there are times I can't get enough and overeat. This is why I only lose 2-3 pounds a month, but, doing it this way is relatively painless and I don't feel hungry.

I have a cup of herbal hot tea with splenda. If I have to eat, I eat cherries or something good, but not too bad. If I have a sweet attack, a piece of hard candy (sometimes 2-3 if I am bad, but still not like having potato chips or chocolate cake) or a 1/4 of a chocolate granola bar (only 50 cal), and I eat it very slowly-very small bites.

if i need something "snacky" i take 2-3 rice cakes and break them up into popcorn sized peices, put them in a bowl and....snack
if i need something more "mealish" i microwave some italian style frozen veggies w/ some teriyaki sauce. low cal and good for me. usually curbs the craving i had. (even 3 cups is only like 140 calories)
and.....if i really need something, i run to mc d's and get a snack sized fruit & yogurt parfait :) mmmmmm

I eat at night. It's my worst time. I just count it as another small meal. 200 cals is not bad. Low fat pesto on a rice cake. Soy cheese on a rye crisp. Sunflower seeds. A few almonds. A small salad. Frozen yogurt from the Freeze King (who said that?)
