I want to lose weight, but it's hard while I'm on my summer vacation, so I'm just looking to at least maintain my weight (not gain any more) and get in shape. I just got a membership to a gym about 1 or 2 weeks ago. I was going almost every day. I would do cardio for an average of 20 min a day and then weights (lowerbody/upperbody every other day) for about 30 min each day. But then I heard that you should do cardio one day and weights the other days, then take at least 1 day off a week. What should I do? What is the best way to get in shape?

pretty much as you have been told yeah..doing the amount you do you could seperate the days up..cardio one day and weights the next..just leave yourself ATLEAST one day off per week when you do nothing.,,your body needs its rest
