 when to consume calories/food
Author: Marie Clair

hello everyone

i was reading a post from gym i think i go this right but he said that someone (can rememeber who) was low on calories.
by lunch time they had only consumed 600 calories then as the day went on they go up something like1500

Could this be my problem why i don't seem to be losing any more weight it is the norm that i eat ver little during the day then in the evening eat more .

eg today so far i have consumed

1 white coffee (semi skimmed milk)
1 black tea
4 large glasses of water

lunch ham salad sandwich and a large apple

I am not hungry if i get hungrey i will snack on some raw chopped veggies

Tonight i will be having chicken with a tomate sauce and pasta

do i need to eat more to lose weight it just seems a bit odd
or i am i just eating at the wrong time of day?

Cheers

I think I remember reading here, possible from Gym also, that when you eat really has no bearing on your weight loss or lack thereof. It's more a matter of calories in vs. calories expended although I personally don't like to eat after 7:00 because if I do, sometimes I have a harder time falling asleep. You are sooo close to your goal that it's going to get tougher as time goes on, or at least that's what everyone keeps telling me to keep in mind! I think you've done great and should be proud of yourself for your accomplishments so far! ;)

From what I understand, your body uses quite a bit of energy to break down food; the closer the food is to being natural (i.e., raw vegetables, whole wheat) the more energy it takes to digest. So, with this in mind, if you feed your body at several intervals throughout the day, with healthy, wholesome food, it keeps the furnace stoked and more calories are burned. In addition, by eating several mini-meals throughout the day, your blood sugar is kept at a steady level; this will alleviate the problems when the blood sugar peaks and then falls drastically which can lead to mood swings and the desire to binge eat.

it depends on how far u were into the day by that diet u posted Marie...i mean if thats what u have eaten by lunch time, your doing ok, but theres room for more....1500 a day is fine and it does come down to cals in vs cals out, but to stick to a diet, and for healh reasons, spreading it out in the day is best...think of it as grazing...i mean you would still lose weight eating what u did by say, mid afternoon and have a huge dinner to make up the cals but really it isnt doing much for your metabolism and perhaps you may stick to a diet of any kind if you grazed a bit more, especially if you feel you get hungry all the time....people who get hungry at night especially find themselves eating next to nothing during the day and gorge at night, only to find they come up in a calorie surplus from eating too much at night...spreading it out gives you more chances at sticking to things and develops healthy habits.
