go faster for shorter...like 10 minutes of your 90% max....you dont burn fat in this time BUT you burn fat when your finished...your bodys homeostasis is disrupted so badly (muscle and blood ph levels seem to be really out of order with high intensity work) that it requires calories to bring it back to normal...on average in these 10 minuites of pure hell you have to stop every now and again for a breath if your doing it right...you have to bust a lung really..on average you can expect to burn 600 calories from this and elevate your metabolism remarkebly for the next 48 hours...my good friend Eric wrote this and put it online and it really does work and he is living proof...its working for me too which im stoked..heres the link

o.k i did this today i think its high intensity cardio im not sure though i went on the tredmill for 15 min started off on 3mph for about 3min then went to 8mph for 1min and repeated at the end of the 1 minuits i burned 200 calories and afterwards i felt really tired and ive kinda had a pain in my stomach a little since so i was wonderin if thats a good sign that i did it right or if ts not enough after a min at 8 i feel like deaths breathing down my throat so i cant do anymore than that and also u forgot to mention about the amino fuel thx

doesnt feel nice does it...its not supposed to..but it works like magic...try not alternating but take little breathers when u need to...do a small warm up for a minute or 2 then gut it out..i stop around the 3 minute mark for a quick breathe..then i go hard again for another 100 odd metres...i make up 10 minutes worth of it and thats it im done and stuffed....ur right it feels like death lol, but it works better than i have ever seen anything else....if ur not comfortable with it...try another pathway it is ur call

I do a routine I got from Mens Health magazine. It is done on a treadmill. You do 5 minutes of warm up, and by the end of the 5 minutes, you should be at 50% of your max speed. At the end of 5 minutes, you go to your max speed for 15 seconds, then back down to 50% max for 2 minutes, and you continue in those intervals for 6-10 sets, and then you do a cool down for 3 minutes at about 25% max. If you don't have a treadmill, do it wherever you can walk/run. You would need a stop watch or something to watch your interval times. I have done it for about 2 weeks, and I can't say I've seen results, but I owe that to not being able to do it more than a couple days a week, due to shin splints. But, I believe it works. I know doing this versus my normal 2 miles a day at about 60% of my max(which is fast walking), I'm a lot more tired after doing this routine. It's funny, when I'm doing my max speed for those 15 seconds, I don't feel the effects until I'm back at 50%. The idea behind this is, you don't burn as many calories while doing the exercise, but you burn a lot more hours afterwards. And for me that's great because I exercise in the evenings after work.

i heard that unless you do 15-20 minutes of cardio, it doesn't do anything to your system, your just waisting your time, a trainer at the gym told me this while back and i've used it as a cardinal rule, does the time actually really matter then???

I was reading and article on this web-site and they say the best time to workout is in the morning. It has something to do with your hormones(sp) and your metabolisim works all day. They say it makes you more alert and make healthier food choices.
Just annother guy telling another how to loose some weight.

The "at least 20 minutes of cardio" (3x a week) guideline is for cardiovascular fitness - e.g. heart and lung functional strength and endurance. As for burning calories, you move, you burn. Of course, conventionally, the longer and "more intense" you move, the more you burn. This thread of messages discusses a different approach to the "usual cardio" - shorter routines with killer bursts that have been shown lately to burn calories faster than conventional routines.
