Ok, need a little help here. I don't know where to go or what to do next. I must say, I am getting a little impatient. I have been watching what I eat since Jan 1 ("diet" but I hate that word) I have been counting calories, eating "good for me food" My fruits, veggies, proteins, fats, starches,The right % of each) etc. Working out 5-6 days a week with a change in exersise often, strength training 3 days a week. Have a personal trainer, drinking 12-14 glasses of water a day, getting enough sleep, taking in my flax, and vitamins, even keeping that darn eating journal and I have only lost 8lbs!!! Yess, 8!!!!! I need a boost. I need to know what to do next!! Help!! I will take ANY suggestions! Thanks

I am currently taking a protein shake in the morning. It is called Metabosurge...made by Vitamin World..it is not too expensive...
I have found that I have no desire to eat until lunch...BUT, I do make sure to take in a small amout of protein and carbs before lunch, even though I could make it through. My point is...this is a huge savings of calories...and you get the protein you need to get your metabolism going first thing in the morning...
this is what one serving consists of...
100 calories
1 g of fat
2 g of fiber
20 g of protein
and
2 g of carbs
I drink this with one cup of skim milk...it does contain the ephedrine group alkaloids...so if you are not wanting something with that herbal ingredient, I totally understand.
Anyway, hopefully this will work for you. It sounds like I am doing the same as you...counting calories...working out 6 days a week...I weigh 262...and I started out at 278, 6 weeks ago. I am working real hard...It's hard work, eating right...working out, but it really makes you feel great!

Sounds like you are on the right track and just hang in there. Did you happen to measure yourself and/or get body fat percentage taken when you started? I started first of Feb and did everything supposed to do -- journal, cardio, strength train, water, etc. and after 6 weeks only showed a 10 pound weight loss on scales, BUT measurements show I have lost INCHES everywhere and I had body fat composition retaken: LOSS: 22 pounds of fat GAINED: 12 pounds lean muscle mass = only 10 pound loss on scales but DANG I FEEL GOOD. By the way I was 249 pounds on Feb 1 when I started so I know I have a long weigh to go and once I increase lean muscle mass more the fat will start falling fast!! Good Luck.

Thanks Amanda, I do the protein shakes twice a day. They do help with the hunger pangs but not the weight loss.

I wish I had lost 10lbs in 6 weeks. That would be great!! But no cigar. I have done inches but only have lost 2-3 inches all around. I appreciate the suggestions!

Here is a little motivation quote my dear e-mail buddy sent me and it helps me stay focus...
" I am not there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday!"
I know it doesn`t feel like you are getting anywhere, and I`ve felt the same myself...Yet when I take the time to notice, I`ve lost some of my "feeling sorry for myself attitude", I`ve lost some of my " self destructive behavior", I`ve lost "the urge to sit on my butt and do nothing all day", and then I also notice what I`ve gain, more energy, I like myself better, I`m not tired all the time, less asthma attacks, and the list goes on....
Once I complained to my weight loss buddy about losing 1 lb only although I was proud of the fact that I had lost the lb...Being the suportive person that she is , she put it in perspective for me...She told me that what I had lost was 4 stick of butter! You know when you look at it that way...Picture yourself with 32 sticks of butter stuck to your body...Aren`t you glad you lost them? Hang in there soon the weight will start going again...On the positive side, you lost 8 lbs , not gainned 8 lbs...It`s all on how you want to view things : D
