todays workout, am i doing to much or to less?
Author: Tripp

Hello i posted yesterday series of questions and statistics of my body..... today i started my journy to get better health...... back a year ago when i got a very positive results using a excersize program called Max-OT (maximum overtraining) and i ate about 1500-2500 calories a day and drank about a gallon or so of water a day.......... when doing that i took the fallowing supplements....

1. Xenadrine-RFA1 2 pills once a day 30 min before a workout(yes i know about the risks of ephedrine at my young age)
2. Weigh Protien mixed with juice (for daily sugar)
3. Amino Acids
4. About every vitamin u can think of
5. Flax seed oil (pill form)

And now as of today im taking these supplments

1. Metabodrine or Maxadrine (metabodrine- 1 pill maxadrine-2 because of the 20mg of ephedarine in metabodrine oppose to the 11 in maxadrine)
2. Weigh Protien Mixed with Juice
3.Amino Acids
4. All the vitamins
5. Colin Cleanser (suprisingly you can have up to 40lbs of bodily waste stuck in your body this flushes it out)
6. Flax Seed
7. Occasional Creatine
...................................................................................................................

Todays Workout:::::::

1. Stretching for about 5 min
2. Hitting heavy bag about 5 min (to get body warmed up) then another 5 min with 10lb weights on my hands
3.Curls with 30lb free weights 12x for 3 sets each arm
4. This is my main workout for cardio i have a staircase in front of my house with 20 steps on it i put 50lbs of weight into my backpack about 25% of my weight and went up and down them 5x rested and repeated 4 times (my quads where almost dead at the end of this lol)
5. walked on tredmill at 3.5 mph for about 40 min at a steady incline
6. did light weight benchpress, preacher curls, tricep curls, calf raises, lat pulls
7. Crunches 15x 5 sets
8. Leg lifts 15x 5 sets
9.stretched out again
10. Passed out (not really but i thought id throw that in for comedy, my body just felt like it had enough)

......................................................................................................................

But is that to much to do? or right amount? or what ? i thought it was a pretty good workout for just a daily thing ill mix up the excersizes and work a diffrent muscle group everyday... but overall todays was it to much? thanks

You wrote: "is that to much to do? or right amount? or what ?"

To that I say, "Your muscles will certainly let you know on Thursday!"

I don't agree with all the "supplements" you are taking. You are wasting your money on a bunch of junk. You would be better off taking the money you spend on the supplements, buy (and read) the book written by Dr Phil's son about Weightloss for Teens and go for a consult with a personal trainer.

You mentioned in your post that a year ago you were "successful" doing pretty much the same thing you are doing now. Well, if you are overweight and out of shape, then I wouldn't call that "successful." So now you're back with the junk supplements and overtraining again.

To be perfectly frank, I think your bahavior is insane. The definition of insanity is: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. Think about it.

I agree with Fab--your use of all these supplements is alarming, especially at your age, and if this kind of regimen didn't work before, it's not going to work now. First, if you know the risks of ephedrine, why on earth are you taking it? The risks far outweigh the benefits--you can achieve much greater long-term (emphasis on "long-term") weight loss through simple self-discipline and sound diet. Second, there is no way that anyone's body stores up to 40 pounds of waste at one time. I don't know exactly how much, but my educated guess is that it's at most 5 pounds or less, maybe a little more if you include water weight. Don't believe everything you read on these weight loss produce labels--most of it is just hype. Overuse of laxatives--and that's what we're talking about here--can harm your digestive system. Barring an unusual health problem, your body will take care of its waste quite efficiently on its own.

I'm not qualified to comment on how appropriate your workout is, but it sounds like a bit much to me. Hopefully one of our exercise gurus will respond with a more informed opinion. Based on what I do know, I think you may be relying too much on exercise to lose weight, and ignoring the diet component, which for most people accounts for the majority of their weight loss. You need to cut your calories as well as upping your exercise, and rely more on a balanced, healthy diet rather than artificial supplements (which sometimes have a lot of calories), as your weight loss/weight maintenance and muscle-strengthening plan is something you need to be able to maintain for the rest of your life.

In short, I'd drop the supplements, and invest the money in at least a couple meetings with a reputable personal trainer, or even a physician, who can tailor an exercise and diet plan which meets your individual needs. The more informed opinions you get, the better you will do. You've got the will, you just need the right info now.

im not the definition of "insane" what happend was last year when i was down to almost where i wanted to be i got lazy and tangled up in teen stuff ex. girls, school, and i have a band, and that took up alot of time and energy and i just put off working out everyday.... and dr. phil? yea have you looked at his body latly? not exactly what i would define as "healthy" i wouldnt take health advice from that guy if i was on my deathbed and he said he knew the only way to save me..... but back to subject when that happend i pretty much ballooned back to where i was before i started working out and lifting, and now im using the same method as before that WORKED FOR ME AND I HAD FUN DOING... expecting the SAME results as i had before, and for your information ive gone to a personal trainer before, and he reccomended me to take the vitamins, protien, creating, flaxseed oil, and recomended i drink juice with the weigh for my muscles by adding glutamine to them so they didnt deplete. so i really dont know why u think that im "insane" because u said the definition even, and it really just proves that im not insane because im looking for the SAME results as before and i never really gave up on it i just hadnt had enough time or energy..........i dont mean to be rude to you....but i beileve that your post is kind of an ignorant thinking on weight loss and bodybuilding, ive even talked to proffesional body builders about this stuff face to face about supplements, reutines, and overtraining, even jay cutler (3 time arnold classic winner) told me that if i stuck with what i was doing i would be contending with him one day because i had my routien set exactly the way it should have been........... and id take jay cutlers word over dr. phils anyday but hey thanks for insulting my intelligance in your post

hey miranda about the calorie cutting im also doing that my trainer put me on a negloric calorie diet is what i believe its called but i take in about 1500 to 2000 calories a day compared to my before 3-5 thousand area but the main point of it is to burn more then u take in everyday. it goes along with overtraining, and the supplements were also reccomended to me by him (not the ephedarine based ones i just use those pretty much for fat loss and energy i dont take near the reccomended dose) this is my second time around with this trainer the 1st time i was really suprised with my results and this time i feel alot better and more expeirianced so i beileve it will work again since i have nothing but a positive attitude about it. thanks

Well, I'm still skeptical about the ephedrine, but you are seeking professional advice, so that's good. Just to be safe, you might want to run your program by your personal physician. Basically, my philosophy is hey, whatever works in the long term and keeps you healthy. It's the long term and the health parts that count--my personal doctor has been a great help to me in this regard. Just a suggestion, for what it's worth. Best of luck to you in reaching your goals. You sound motivated enough to get there, and you're wise to nip weight and fitness problems in the bud at an early age. Let us know how you're doing.

My advice would be to go back to the ast sports science website and sign up for the max-ot program again...its free if u remember....and while your there you can learn about what to take and when by reading Paul Cribbs articles....alot of things are out of whack with not only your lifting, but your supplements aswell...
firstly forget the ephadrine pills, u seem to handle them ok which is good, but people get negetive effects when they come off of them...they tend to put weight back on...secondly dont mix protein with just any type of juice...grape juice is the best because its low acidic andhigh glycemic....forget orange and apple juice....protein is better in water anyway..forget amino acids, if u have a decent whey protein, then they are already in there, your just litterelly pissing them out into the toilet...colin cleansers simply dont work and have been proved time and time again not to...do some reasearch on this one to find out about it...flax seed is ok since its an essential fatty acid complex...multi-vitamin is good too...creatine can be good but you cant have it occasionally otherwise it doesnt work....5 grams every day or none at all...have it with your grape juice after a workout...5 grams is a teaspoon too..more than this and your body cant use it, and again, u piss it away....
your workout is all out of whack too...the exercises, the sets, the reps, the type, its all going to yeild very little...look, i have been a personal trainer and gym instructor before and my advice is to go back to the ast-sports science website, read some articles from Paul Cribb, ignore the sales pitches inbetween their writings (unfortunately u get those, however they do have some useful info) and follow their max-ot program....as u know it works well..

Tripp,

Re-read the post...never said "you" were insane...just the "behavior" was insane. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is exactly what you are doing. What are you planning to do about "getting lazy and tangled up in teen stuff ex. girls, school, and i have a band, and that took up alot of time and energy and i just put off working out everyday.... " this time?

I've been known to speak my mind on this board and I see a 16-year-old who is heading down a dangerous path. Taking supplements, colonics, ephedra, creatin, and every vitamin u can think of... is not smart and any "world class body builder" encourages a 16 year old to do what you're doing to your body should be arrested.

Odd thing about your posting, there was a 15-year-old by the name of Geoff who used to post on this board a couple years ago--he was a workout fanatic and a supplement junkie. Kind of like Dejavu all over again?

He went by the board name "DUDE" and you can catch his posts by hitting the "Search" and typing in "Dude" for the author. I wonder if he was successful too?
