Thanks for saying I'm nice. I need to hear that once in awhile. But I think you are pretty special for the way you talk to people, especially your compliments. You deserve great things just like everyone else on this board. I hope you accomplish them. And remember even basketball is exercise. What medicine are you on for the BP? My dad is on Cuomadin for a blood thinner and I know with that you have to avoid foods high in iron like spinach. Have you asked your doctor or a nutritionist if there is certain foods you need to watch out for that willl react with your meds?

Hi Jennifer.
Thank you for your kinds words. Really, I'm no better or worse than anyone else on this site, as far the whole weight loss thing goes. We all deserve to lose the weight we want to, and so I commend anyone who is trying (or wants to try).
My mother is a nurse, and she is the one that explained that I need to watch out for certain foods (such as spinach). My doctor mostly told me about the possible side effects (such as dizziness or dry cough), though I haven't experienced those yet (knock on wood). It's just my second day on the meds, though, so we'll see.
This will sound bad, but I don't have my medicine with me here at work, and I'm horrible with prescription drug names, but I *think* the name of it is Lisinopril. I'm taking 5 mg of it daily, whatever it is.
Once again, Jennifer, thank you for your kind words. And I hope many more people tell you what a nice person you are.
Take care.

Hi guys,
I think you are both super people! And Matt, I commend you on your life style change. My Dad is on the same meds as you for BP etc, he's started watching what he eats a tiny bit (which helps some) but he doesn't get much exercise. I'm curious about your comment about watching out for spinach......?

Hi Melanie Rae,
My mom (the nurse) told me to watch out for spinach and bananas especially, because they're somewhat high in potassium. Apparently, the bp med I'm on increases my potassium level, so I need to be careful not to raise it too high.
One banana or one serving of spinach won't send my body spiraling out of control, I'm sure. But I need to watch that I don't eat *too much* of them. (No banana sundaes, for example...... although they're pretty much a no-no nowadays, anyway....... really fattening!)
LOL.
Take care.
