As we are getting closer to November and my 40th birthday, I`m thinking of giving myself a present (Hubby is rolling his eyes and not too happy about it) and I played around with what I wanted to represent the efforts I have been doing the last few years with my new lifestyle and also with the struggles I`ve had outside of weightloss...I figured out that my heart felt like it was broken quite a few times but that I also had inner strength so it must mean that my heart is strong afterall...Here is the design I created , to represent my strong heart...What do you think?...Don`t be afraid to give me your honest opinion....G
5` 4 and 3/4 inches
previous weightloss from 2002- 2003
jan 2002 --198 lbs/ down to 160 lbs
start losing weight again July 19th 2004
168 lbs/ 157 lbs / 145 lbs
inches lost from may 5th to-oct 2nd 2004=15.5in

It's a little bright on the color side, but a neat design nonetheless :)

I like it! I have two tatoos. One is a winking smiley face--the way I used to feel all the time before I felt out of control. And the other is of a butterfly/tiger tatto. It's shaped like a butterfly but it's a tiger's face. I'm not the type you might figure for a tatoo. There are times I wish I didn't have them. So if you don't have any already think of reasons not to. My son always tries to rub them off!!!! When I stood up in my sister's wedding six years ago, the dress I wore didn't cover them. I had both good comments and bad. My Dad didn't like it. He didn't care at first, but when his little baby--my little sister-- went out and got four of them it was all my fault!!!! Okay I'll stop babbling now!

Thanks for the honest input Lee, I have been wondering about a more faded look as well...Anyway it`s not a sure thing yet but when I showed it to hubby last night when he came home from a 16 hr shift, he didn`t roll his eyes and did understand where I was coming from....

Thanks Nina, I actually want it even smaller then the actual 1 inch height I drew and considering faded look of it...Also don`t normally wear the kind of dress that wouldn`t cover it but since it is for myself, if I ever did I would not worry too much...People have a right to their opinions and at least it would give them something to talk about...G

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I find it awesome that you want to get a tattoo that represents your struggles. The best thing about you getting that tattoo is the fact that is does stand for something. Most people get tattoos just to appease the visual eye. However, I would like to make you aware that you are stuck with this booger for life. Not unless you're super rich and can afford to have it taken off.
I actually have a tattoo. I don't regret getting it because it has meaning as well. If you don't mind me asking, where are you planning on putting it? Size? and are those the exact colors you are going to use?

I think it's great to go with something that symbolizes something special. And if this design is good for you...and means something, go for it. You can play with the colors and have the tattoo artist help out with his opinion on how to make it 'your own'. People call those types of tattoos, that you can find in a book, 'flash'. You always want to change it up if you can so that it's original.
After you've made your final decision, Go for it and have fun! Ha, I have 4 tattoos...and the one on my thigh is about 9 inches by 12 inches. Huge. I might have a pic here if you want to see it?

the actual size will be the smallest the tattoo artist can do it without recking the design, I`m hoping no more then 3/4 of an inch by 3/4 of an inch....
The colors will be a more faded version of the one showed to you guys...
The meaning is as follow...
Red represends my heart with hopes and dreams and the whole shabang for the future
blue represents the tears sheds over the years from having a sibbling cought up in drugs, the abuse endured from it and the final drama that led him to take someone else life and his own this past Easter morning...It also represent coming to terms with all that shabang....
the white represents the struggles of my marriage and but it is held together with the chinese sign for "strong"
The entire tattoo represents my strong heart, my inner strength....
As for where I want it on my body, It will probably end up on my shoulder because I`m too coward to have it on the front close to my heart....G

I think the design is very cool. And maybe the colors wouldn't be so bright once it's on your skin.
If it's something you really want to do, I say go for it :)

Hey Everyone ....
Well, Friday I went and paid $60.00 for Permanent Motivation .... this may sound silly .. but I got a crescent moon and a star tattooed in the middle of my back. It's kind of symbolic in this way .... I do almost everything at night ... the crescent is on the growing of the moon and the star is the north star so that I'll always be growing spiritually and I'll always be looking up.
Not only is that motivation ... but the simple fact ... that I have to lose weight in order to show it off. I want to wear one of those shirts that has nothing but a front and strings that hold it together in the back ....
So ... that's my permanent motivation for the summer time ... =)
hehe ... I wouldn't recommend this for everyone ... I have always wanted to get this tattoo and I drew my own unique design ... so .... here goes something ...
Take Care,
Trace

I went a little cheaper for motivation he,he,he part of my new lifestyle has been the addition of karate class to follow in my kids footsteps. I bougth my daughter and myself matching hip necklace that have the oriental sign for "strength" on the medalion part of it...I have been wearing it fatefully since I got it last thusday and often touch it during the day and have walk away form binging a few times since...As I touch it I remind myself how far I have come and that I will go farther yet...G
