For those of you who watch Dr.Phil..(I missed the show) but I believe it was on tuesday, one of the girl featured on the show had her personnal trainer with her(or they showed segment of him) ...The guy is from Niagara Falls and his little one is in the karate class my daughter helps teach...Tuesday while waiting for my daughter I was yakking with him and I was telling him that a lifestyle must be able to be kept up with if it`s to be right for you etc...His point of view was that you learn to attapt..hmmm...He owns Herks stores and sells all the protein stuff...Anyway when I was telling him about having smooties and stuff he told me that is all the kind of food that makes me fat...hmmm...You know I truly believe that you have to go with your gutt instinct at times(not your gutt cravings LOL) and do what feels right for you...If the food I`m eating is what helps me stay fatter longer but at the same time makes my heart, lungs, liver and all the other organs healthier I simply have to chose to do things from the healthy side of it...I just have a hard time believing that if I go shop in is store and buy products(as he said) that are basically KD but with way more protein added in the mix that it is that healthy for me...hmmm ..I`m also a firm believer that foods such as apples, oranges, veggies etc..who have been growing since who knows when would be unhealthy to eat.....What came first the fruits and veggies or the powdered stuff?
Anyway just my 2 cents worth and NO I`m not knocking supplementing with protein shakes and stuff I`m just saying that`snot my thing since he also pointed out that if you the protein powder stuff etc. that you also only nedd about 2 work outs a week...hmmm....G

I have been keeping up with Dr. Phil's "Weight Loss Challenge" and it seems as though he is encouraging exercise and healthy eating. You have to keep in mind it is a television show - ratings count - so I am sure there is much editing.
I don't think he would advocate "powdered protien" on the show. I sometimes don't like his "all or nothing" attitude about what people eat and how much they exercise but it is working for them.
Can you imagine having your weight loss struggle happening in front of millions of people? Talk about pressure..............but I guess they signed up for it. The show is motivating for me so I watch it.
Is anyone else out there keeping up with the show?

I've been following the show from day one (tape the show and watch it later in the evening) and have found it very interesting.
I like most of it, but there are some things I'm not too crazy about, but I understand that ratings count.
I liked the way he confronted the group in the last show and came down hard on the ungrateful people who were whinning and complaining about all they had to do inspite of all the support and funding they've received from the program.
The competitions which pit one group against the other to lose the most weight seems to fly in the face of what weight loss is supposed to be--a PERSONAL commitment to make your own body as healthy as it can be and not a competition.
As a result, the competition portion in the show brings out the ugly side of some of the members. For instance: I'm not too crazy about the team members dogged the severely overweight woman who couldn't keep up with them during the competitions. She had a couple hundred pounds over some of the people who got in her face for not trying "hard enough."
Other than that, enjoy the show and I pick up tips and motivation which helps me to continue on my lifestyle change.
