I guess I was feeling bad that I couldn't be "strong" enough to cut out the sweets altogether and I see a thread below about low calories ice cream bars. Seems a lot of other people like their sweet treats at night like I do.
Saving enough calories for a night time treat helped me in the beginning when I was losing weight on a regular basis. I would not eat anything sweet all day and save colories for after dinner. Ice cream, jello, cookies, cake, pudding, chocolate etc.
But..................some of these things do not have any more calories than the higher priced "Low-calorie" treats. Sometimes I just want plain old Bryers Ice Cream - just a little less of it. But what every works - works for that person. Just thought if you are trying to save money compare the calories in your old treats to the "healthy treats" and you might find that sometimes there is not that much of a difference.

Agreed, there is not always that much difference in calories, but many people like the low fat selections. I'm the same way, anywhere I can cut fat, I cut it.
However, I'm not much of a sweet eater. I never eat candy because I don't like it that much and even have to be in the mood for ice cream, a favorite treat among most people. But I'll occasionally buy ice cream if I'm in the mood for a sweet treat and most of the time I make shakes out of it. I usually purchase 'lite' ice cream, which isn't calorie or fat-free, but has less than regular ice cream does.

Joan don't beat yourself up you've lost 38 lbs. Pat yourself on the back! We all have our own food requirements. Mine isn't sweets it's bread and cheese. To much of anything will put the weight on. As long as we limit our favorites we can loose weight. Mayby not as fast as those who cut out all goodies but we're training ourselves to recognize how much we can eat without weight gain and that's a valuable tool to have for the rest of our lives.
As to calorie count comparasons I recently checked the difference between the Cool Whip, Cool Whip Light, and Fat Free Cool Whip and the difference was insignificant. I prefer to eat what I like just much less of it.
I really went off the wagon this last week. I cleaned out my freezer and found 6 donuts in the bottom. I put them there 18 months ago and forgot them. Donuts are the one thing that I have eleminated from my diet because they trigger a major binge. I ate all 6 of them and wanted more. I then went into the rationalization that as I had already blown it I might as well enjoy myself befor getting back to eating right. Damn! I hate going in circles. I'd gotten over salivating when I saw a donut and now I'm having to fight that battle all over again. They wern't even good donuts. I gained 4 lbs.

I have seen low-fat, sugar-free, (Splenda sweetened) ice cream as low as 80 calories a serving (15 calories from fat) so there are some varieties that can make a difference in calories when you really want some ice cream.
When you have a day you used up too many calories there is always the sugar-free frozen fruit bars as low as 25 calories a serving :-)
If you do have to have a higher calorie version, at least try to keep to the low-fat side of things so not many calories are from fat.
