Hi, I'm new here. I am 18 years old, 5'6 and 170 pounds. I want really bad to lose 20 pounds for summer. I run 4-5 times a week for 20-30 minutes on my treadmill and have been trying to limit my intake on food. It just gets to me sometimes. I am not hungry, but I go for food anyways. One day and I can ruin the whole week of working out. I also play hockey. I don't know how to stop! Sooo, frusterating. Any tips???
Thanks

Just quit eating so much. That sounds like your only issue. Everytime you fight a craving the easier it will get in the future.

If you really can't resist a craving, reach for a piece of fruit, or some raw veggies, along with a large glass of water. Then wait 30 minutes before reaching for anything else. Lots of times you can conquer a craving this way by diverting it (so to speak). Try it - it works for me.

Breaking those habits are the hardest to do. There are a lot of things you can do to break em too. One drink a big glass of water and really decide if you are hungry or just bored or whatever. Two get rid of all that junk foood and replace it with healthy snacks fruit veggies etc. Three when you get in those moods then sit down and write about it. Why do you want that big bowl of ice cream and soon you will be over it. It also helps to write about it because then you can write down your goals and dreams and your feelings. Also go for a walk when you are craving something get busy and do something besides walking into the kitchen and blowing it.

It's all mental. I live in a house with 3 other people. All of them have snacks upon snacks lying around. After Christmas they came home one day with like 20 bags of chocolate they bought on sale. But, once you train yourself to be stronger than your cravings you can walk right by any food and not want it.

I use sugarless gum when I crave food. Also, I used to eat whenever I was bored, or feeling down... I had to learn to stop doing that and use alternative forms of emotional venting... like boxing, martial arts and other sports (including hockey :D). I also tried veggies with chip dip because when you're REALLY craving, it's hard not to go for it. But at least with the veggies and dip, you're not eating chips so that's a plus. Hope this helps :))

Wow, I am really interested to hear your story. You seem to be all over this board. I am doing well for these first two weeks, running 5-6 times a week and eating less. Hope to keep it up and will keep you posted.
