As long as the stretch marks are still red, purple, or deep brown something can be done. Once they fade to white there is little that can be done, and its usually expensive and has only minimal effect. AHA products are what you can get from your doctor for external application to cause fading of stretch marks and wrinkles. However, if most of you are like me, broke and without health insurance, there are other things you can do. AHA is found in apples, pears, and citris fruit, and in lactic acid in milk, although I have read apples are the most common source of pharmicological AHA skin products. Some homeopathic folks recommend using fresh apple juice and applying it to the skin for low dose levels of natural AHA. My mom gave me some skin care astringent last fall that she had bought over the counter at her dermatologist's suggestion. This stuff (so the dermatologist says) has the highest concentration of AHA you can buy over the counter without a prescription. Its made for wrinkles on the face, but I have been using it on my hips and its working. Its also not sticky like apple juice. Its called Agua Glycolic AHA Skin care system and has the "dermatologist recommended" on the label (blue and whit bottle, $8.69). The trick to AHA is to keep out of the sun (sun sensitivity can occur) and redness and irritation can also be a problem in some people. But if your not showing off your stomach and hips anytime soon....

I'm going to have to try some of this stuff......I have tried everything to get rid of my stretch marks..Nothing has help!!!!! I finally decided just to give up, but now I will have to go to my nearest drug store and try it out. My husband has told me that they are not ugly. It just reminds him that we have two beautiful daughters. (Of course he does not need the stretch marks to remind him.) Yes, I do have two beautiful girls, but I have 100's of ugly lines...;-)
I hope this stuff works; it seems the more weight I lose the uglier they get...
