hello to you all, thanks to you all I feel so at home and around people that are like myself and are not going to look down on me and give me horrible looks. I am a stay at home mum, looking after 2 little ratbag sons. I am currently 234.5 lbs and am 5'6. I enrolled for a gym fitness assessment for next Friday the 8th November. I have just torn a ligament in my right ankle. What can I do to keep from the pounds rushing onto my hips. In some ways it is a good thing me hurting my ankle as I cannot get up to go to the kitchen for snacks or drive down to the local KFC for tea, so getting myself through the "dry out" phrase of the beginning of a detox programme of bad diet will be alot easier. My husband is at home with me till I manage to get used to things with crutches and a cast. So once again have any of you got any advice for a person such as myself that is injuried....keep smiling folks, remember it is not the end result that matters, it is the journey that we experience along the way..... :)

I think this thing is getting out of hand. GymMac, I understand your frustration, but don't let it get you that upset. If someone can't respect your opinion, and doesn't want your help, then don't worry about it. You have given some good advice to people, so don't let one person ruin it for everybody else.

You,two, are pathetic! Come on! Can't you just quit the arguing and apologize to eachother, this ridiculous! I believe that you ,two, are adults right? THEN ACT LIKE IT AND STOP THIS NONSENSE! No one wants to come to this board and read your petty arguments! We are here to discuss weight loss issues, not who is right or wrong.PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEE stop this crap. Thank you very much and have a great day with no more fighting, I get enough of this crap from my kids! LOL I come here for peace of mind!

Hi,
Sorry about the leg. Since you can't go for a walk (best thing since sliced bread for lifting someone's spirits, and and helping them to lose a few pounds), this might be a good time for some introspection on life, KFC, and everything! I discovered journalling a couple of years ago, and I find it really helpful. On a mundane level, keeping track -- in writing -- of what I eat and drink seems to keep me on the straight and narrow with regard to sugar (my problem food!) On another level, writing down how I feel about things helps me to identify the stress in my life and "deal with", and writing down what was happening right before I ate half a bag of gummy bears helps me to figure out what my eating triggers are. Other than journalling, I wonder if you have tried weight training? Two hand weights (or two soup cans, or water bottles) can be used from a sitting position to do overhead presses, bicep curls, and side lateral lifts, etc. Dunno if this helps, but hope so. I'm an expatriate Brit (from Yorkshire) who has been living in the US for some years, but I love to see the word "tea", since my kids and I eat tea too!!
Cheers, Dee
