HI I am almost 29 years old. I was very over weight all through High school (almost 50 lbs) and never had many friends. Then after graduating I became very ill and I lost more then 50 pounds. Then I got married and had three children. I now once again am 40 pounds overweight. I have been trying to lose weight but but it is very hard. My goal is to lose 45 pound by June (class reunion). That is only six month away. Any advice on how to lose this weight. I have a hard time not eating at night after I put my kids to bed. Thanks for any in put.

I had gained a lot of weight from night time eating after my son was born. That was the only time I had for myself and I wore a big bathrobe with big pockets.
I knew I had to reign in my night time snack. It was too hard for me to go cold turkey. I am not capable of that.
I would limit my night eating to one skim milk type of food (that could be a lowfat ice cream, pudding, yougurt product), one fruit serving, and one lowfat "cookie" serving (that could be a granola bar, 2 small cookies, 4 crackers). On days I had bad hormones a would have a small peanut butter jelly sandwich.
This might seem like a lot but it was a lot less than eating brownie, cake, real ice cream, potato chips, etc.
That got me going in the right direction. It took time but the successes built on each other and then I started exercising and that was a huge help.
Don't get down on yourself. It's a tough time when the kids are little but they will be teenagers before you know it. Good luck!

I hear ya. I had my kids young and got married young. So time alone is hard to find. But this is what I do. I make my husband hide the junk found from me. Also I drink a lot of water during the day and eat lots of fruits and veggies. My kids have started to ask for the healthy stuff because the see me eating it and that makes me feel even better. And at night time my kitchen closes at 8pm, if I get hungery I say well its to late so either I walk the dog or I read a book and have a big glass of water. The best part was this morning when my husband told me that he was losing weight to (even though he doesn't need too) just because of my life style changes. I also gave up soda and I give my self one day a week to be free by I have found that on that day I still watch what I eat.
Exercise in my house has become a part of the day. We dance around like crazy people or play tag my kids love it and the best part is I'm burn fat. Hope some of this helps you. I lose 3 pounds last week alone. Every little bit helps.

Dr Phil talked about this problem also. He suggested you get rid of that junk food and don't worry about the kids feeling bad because you are not hurting them you are supplying them with healthy stuff.
Find something to do late at night when you are sitting there all bored. Do some exercises, drink a cup of tea, take a long bubble bath, read a book, paint your nails, whatever it takes.
When you get the urge ask yourself why you want it. Are you starving? Or just bored and feel like grazing? Drink a cup of water and if you still need something grab a fruit.
Make a rule no eating after such a time and stick with it. You can do this altho it is hard for a while to get in that routine. Reward yourself after so long with a trip to the store maybe for new pants or something.
When I get the grazing moods I get on my treadwill and do a work out on that. I think by the time I am done I will have walked around the Good ol USA. I am so used to making cookies and having ice cream and it kills me not to have them. Also if you have an old outfit that you are trying to fit in then hang it in the kitchen where it will remind you why you want to lose weight.
Good luck
