 starting my weightloss journey

Hi, I am a 30 year old mother of 3. I have always been fat, but now I've decided that I've had enough. It is time to do this FOR ME! I started working in a gym childcare room, and got a free membeship! That was all the motivation I needed. Seeing all those people working out...... Well I've been at it for about 2 weeks now and have lost 7 pounds. I try to walk everyday, but sometimes if I am sore, I skip one day. I walk 2 miles on the treadmill at a pace of 3mph. That is my limit right now. Cant go any faster or farther. I'm sure as the weight comes off I will be able to increase speed and or distance. I can't run or jog at all because I am so heavy it is too much strain on my knees and ankles. Now since none of you know me... hahahaha I will post my top weight.....349..... ouch that hurt, but now I am on my way down! I was 290 when I graduated from highschool 12 years ago and got married the following year. I did not go over 325 until I had my TWINS almost 3 years ago. I want to be here for them to grow up! I just found this board today! The other thing that made me want to lose the weight is turning 30. I feel like my body is falling apart and I am not going to get younger so I have to get smaller!!!!

Hi, and well done for making a good start! The first step is in some ways the hardest, I think, since it is always easier to keep doing what you were doing, though that isn't the healthiest way! I know exactly what you mean about wanting to see your kids grow up! I have triplets who are 6 1/2 years old, and I am 46, but will turn 47 years old this Sunday! My highest ever non-pregnant weight was achieved when my triplerts were about 2 years old, and I was eating a lot of sugary foods to relieve stress! I was 150 lbs at that time, and had sky high cholesterol (313), so it was time to make a change! I am currently 134 lbs, and my cholesterol is 205, so my risk of heart disease has gone down. I want to lose another 4 to 6 lbs, but I am content to take my time now. You have a longer way to go, but you're right, as time goes by, you'll get fitter, and you'll be able to work harder at sweating!! I was able to relate to you since you have twins and I have triplets, but in terms of weight loss, there is a great lady on this board called Amanda, who has lost lots of weight so far, stays cheerful and upbeat, cares about others, and is an inspiration to us all! So have a good day, and hope things go your way! Cheers, Dee

Hi......for some odd reason I felt so compelled to write to your post. Dont laugh, but I just heard a lot of honesty and determenation, and even some fear in your words. I just wanted to say you ARE on the right track and it is a HARD and LONG track to be on ....but the benefits are so so so worth it. Yes...you do need to do this for yourself.....but a big big big inspiration is your children.......and your family (if they are supportive). Do it for them and for you......not only will you learn something but they will as well. They will learn what hard work and determenation can do for you and what a wonderful mom they have for doing it not only for herself but for them as well. I wish you MUCH success and will be praying for you as well. Keep posting.....this is a great group, this board helps out tremendously :) Have a great day!
Julie
