I hear alot of you talking about sodium intake, and how it is bad.
I agree. But I have to admit, I am not a big salt eater, but I know that sodium is in alot of foods that I wouldn't think.......like salad dressing, and snacks ect..........
How much sodium does everyone take in?
How much is encouraged on a diet?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.
PS) Thanks to all in this group, you people are alot of fun, and very helpful!

That I don't know, I've never been one to watch sodium that carefully. I probably should, but it's not something I've ever worried about. I don't use much excess salt on my food, but there is a lot of sodium hidden in prepared foods, I know that much.

I ate several times the recommended amount of salt while I was losing weight and still do. It has no long term effect on the rate you will lose weight. Salt will cause you to retain water but in the long run a few pounds of water does not really matter. And this few pounds of water is just an offset. I always concentrated on things that affected my long term weight loss rate and ignore things like salt that only have a temporary effect.
If you have high blood pressure it should be avoided, it really aggravates the condition.
I do not mean to encourage people to eat more sodium. It is hard not to get enough sodium in your diet and I cannot think of any advantage to eating more. But I found it best to pick my battles while losing weight. Since I like that taste of salty food and it has no long term effect I decided to keep eating it. While some of you seem to have enough willpower to give up everything all at once I do not. Unless I develop high blood pressure (mine is around 100/60 now) the salt is going to stay.

Hey, guys! I usually use a really great salt alternative called Bragg's Liquid Aminos. It is a naturally occuring type of sodium made from soy. Besides the great flavor, you get the aminos as well. I always dilute mine by half and spray it on my foods and "pooof", no puffy!
