I need help. I have been dieting for about 8 weeks now and have only lost about 7 lbs. I was becoming so obsessed with the scale every day that i made my hubby hide it from me and only give it to me every two weeks..........well today was the two weeks and i stepped back on it.......i had gained three lbs. I just dont understand. I was consistently losing 1-2lbs per week and now all of a sudden this. I feel like giving up just because i feel like i am losing. but.....I WANT to lose weight and I WANT TO FEEL GOOD AND LOOK GOOD. I just feel so depressed about this and needed some support......any help would be appreciated. thanks

Brooke, hi. Look, i know what you're trying to do. I too have been on me " NEW LIFE " Program now for just over 3 weeks, and i have lost about
12 lbs. Now Brooke, please understand that, i am a man, and at 5ft 11, and what WAS 252 Lbs, the weights gonna come off me a bit faster than you.
But, if you are at a stall, you might want to change-up whatever workout program you're doing.
I don't know your stats, whats your weight & height, and Age. And what do you do at your job ?, do you basically sit for 8 + hours ?,cause if you do, just like the Poster Gymmachine has said to others..( A very smart, and nice person )...try to do some HIGH INTENSITY exorcise, even if it's just for 15-20 minutes, BEFORE yougo to work, that way you jump-start your metabolism. Also, if you are NOT a very active workout person at this point in time, you want to average NO MORE than 12 calories per pound of your current body weight. So, lets say you are 140 Lbs right now, that would equate to 1680 daily calories just to MAINTAIN that weight. So, if you wanted to drop about 1 Lb a wek...( And this is with you NOT Exorcising )...than reduce your daily intake by 500...( 1180 a day )...and that multiplied by 7 days is 3500..( 1 Lb of fat )
Now, if you are exorcising daily, and the weight WAS coming off early on in your diet, then obviously you HAVEN'T changed-up your rutine, cause your body CAN get used to that same Ole routine, and the results will DRASTICALLY tail-off. If you walk 1-2 miles every other day, try doing some gasers during your routine..( Meaning, every 1/4 mile, try sprinting HARD for about 1 minute, and see how much your heart pumps then. Also, while at home at night, even if you don't have weights, try filling an empty Milk container..( 1 Gallon size )
with water, and try curling those during your favorite T.V. shows commercials. And then try pressing them over your head for your shoulders, and then try doing some dips for your triceps..( Back of the Arms)...and then every other night, try some leg lifts & stomach crunches for your tummy.
You may not like weight lifting Brooke, but remember, Muscle tissue burns off WAY more weight while at rest than fat does. Like i said though, i wouldn't add too much weight lifting til you dropped a bit more weight. Then, after you've dropped about 5 more pounds then you wanted, you can then start a bit more harder weight training to add back that weight in Muscle weight.

If you have hit a stall Brooke, i, as well as some posters here with MORE knowledge than i have, will tell you it's probably cause you are not jump-starting your metabolism in the morning, and, because you haven't periodically changed your exorcise routine.

Hope this helps, and remember,,Don't Quit!!!

hey im flattered there 'doin my best'!!..not bad for a whippersnapper of a mere 21 eh ;)..lol..anyway u r right with this one bar one itty bitty detail
'You may not like weight lifting Brooke, but remember, Muscle tissue burns off WAY more weight while at rest than fat does.' IF you mean weight as in fat then fat doesnt burn fat..im not sure i may have read this wrong..but the muscle burning fat is spot on..muscle IS your metabolism..the more muscle you have the more calories you expend by just sittin there....
first thing i would do Brookie is not diet...throw it out the window...to hell with dieting it makes things hard and fat usuall comes back on two fold once you have finished dieting..not to mention the fact excessive calorie deficets, which most diets are all about, will bring your metabolism right down...
3 pound gain could be the time of day u weighed yourself, if u ate before hand etc etc..i hate scales too..tape measure might be better..
Doin my best may be right about the calorie cutting thing i dont know i never count calories i can never be bothered lol..i just make sure i get my gm of protein and carbs and fats in...works out to be roughly 1-1.5gm of protien per pound of body weight a day, 1.5-2 gm of carbs per pound of body weight and 15-20% fats...this varies between individuals drastically...its all about eating better, not strict dieting in my opinion...have macdonalds once per fortnight and keep it at that for example..dont go overboard in cutting fats because your body needs fat to burn fat..with respects to exercise the HIIT program that 'doin my best' suggested is also a good idea for the reasons he suggested

i have got a few good articles by an aussie sports scientist and exercise physiologist Paul Cribb..he works for ast-ss.com online ...if anyone wants a copy of these articles email me at sand_man1745@hotmail.com ...they describe diet myths and some sure fire techniques in exercise for burning fat and keep it off that WILL WORK FOR 95% of people...i like them odds!!..lol...
regards,
Gym Machine aka ~Tim~
