It's all about calories in versus calories burned. Decide how many calories you need to consume in a day to lose one pound a week and then snack and eat all you want as long a you stay within those calories. I eat 6 small meals a day and stay within 1200 calories.

I don't know if I'm doing the right thing, but I've heard that you need to keep your metabolism running by eating throughout the day. So I do the following:
Breakfast 9ish
Small Snack 11is
Lunch 1ish
Snack 3ish
Dinner 6ish
Snack hour or so before bed
I rarely feel hungry. The hardest part is making sure that the calorie count falls where it needs to. I don't preplan what I am going to eat for the day. I eat what sounds good. So, I have to be very careful to not mess up my intake to the point that I'm way over on calories.

BFL,
Who do you do that? Are you following a specific diet that's preplanned for you. In any given day I might eat a bowl of (breakfast)cereal, (snack)nutrition shake, (lunch)sandwich and fruit, (snack)raw veggies, (dinner)meat, salad, and roll, (snack)fruit or veggies. I only drink water throughout the day. I am still hitting anywhere between 1400-1700 calories depending on the day. I'd be interested to hear what you're eating and how you're maintaining 1200 calories. I am sure that if I could back off on my calories a bit that my weight would creep off a little quicker.

well the nutrition shake is something you can change since they usually contain between 200-300 calories.
instead of the shake, have an apple

This shake has 230 calories. My dad (the nutrition guru) said that it's supposed to help balance your immune system and support your bodies efforts to heal itself. I have a shoulder that is constantly painful and has a limited range of motion even after 2 rounds of therapy (ridiculous at 34 to be falling apart). Well I have been doing my exercise to strengthen the shoulder and was told that it would take a year before the range of motion was back, but that it might always be uncomfortable. My dad insists that this drink will help to get rid of the pain since it has done so in a few of his 60 year old body achey spots. I've been using the drink for about 3 weeks and have noticed that I'm not in pain after my arm workout and that I can carry a bag in that arm and not have to pay for it later. It may be mental, I don't know.

I'll just butt in .... I'm being rather verbose today! Breakfast, low fat yogurt and fruit. I watch fruits because some are very sugary. I don't eat that much bread. Rye crisps 33 cals a piece. And I can't have an opinion about the nutrition shake cuz I just don't know. Black coffee, green tea and lots of icy cold water. I hang closer to 1300-1350 cals.
And I'm sedentary! I've been at this computer for over an hour and a half!!!

It's called Biochoice Immune Support. It's distributed by Legacy for life. It says that it contains good protein sources, enriched with vitamins, mineral, and antioxidents. I checked the side of the box and didn't see any herbal ingredients. It seems to be all vitamins and monerals. IT does have protein blend (egcel (egg powder)), soy protein isolate, milk protein, maltodxtrin, oat fiber, cocoa, natural chocolate and vanilla flavor, soy lecithin, guar gum, and xanthan gum.
What do you think?

LOL Otta, I hear you about the fruit. For me it's like candy, I love the stuff, but I could cut back (it's my summer treat). Is rye crisps bread? I love bread, but it's so high in calories.

hmm don't know what to tell you Tonya. If your diet is as balanced as it appears on the surface, then the shake really isn't adding anything that you aren't getting. Could be mental..I don't know

Yes, but it's really crispy. I sometimes break up a couple pieces and put it in a bowl like chips. Rye-Vita is the kind I have right now. It's in the bread section of the grocery. It comes in dark or light or sesame... Hunt around, I know there's more kinds, I just can't think of them right now.
Frozen blueberries have been my very good friend for a couple of months. Strawberries are wonderful and crushed pineapple. 1/4 cup at a time :)

Well just remember, you may need more calories due to your height, current weight and activity level. But here is what I eat in a typical day.
I use the "approved food list" as described in the Body For Life Plan:
Results for Women Weight Management Shake 110
Portion of LF cottage cheese mixed with 1/2 of a yogurt 105
Healthy Choice Duos Lunch (not on the list) 280
Portion of LF cottage cheese and the other 1/2 of Yogurt 105
Dinner is grilled chicken or salmon brown rice and veggies
One Michelob Ultra 95
Total without dinner is 695
I try to keep dinner at 500.

There's antioxidants in green tea. I also take a multivit and cal mags. I have trouble with the drinks because to me they just feel like a drink. I want food! Chew, chew.

sorry i am not otta but i drink more than 2 quarts of geen iced tea a day. i buy whatever the cheapest tea bags there are. i usually go to big lots (outlet store) and get 100 bags for $2.99. i have a 1gallon rubbermaid pitcher, i put 5 tea bags in there and run hot tap water over the bags (boiling water makes green tea bitter) leave the bags in there for a couple of hours, throw in 10 sweet and low packets and.... green iced tea :) smile

Hot. I throw the bag in a big cup and just fill it periodically with hot water. Sooner or later it gets too weak and then I switch to decaf for the evening. I use Tetley and some really cheap kind with a crown on it. Can't recall the name and I don't have any right now, sorry.
