I was wondering if you ladies wouldn't mind sharing your weight and what size clothing you wore at the time. I am trying to figure out what size I would wear at what weight.

I weigh 229, 5'4", and wear a size 24 jeans (boy, that was hard to put into writing). I know people come in all shapes but I am trying to be realistic about where I will end up. I see that some people have lost a great deal of weight so maybe they would be willing to share their "bigger" size stats. I think I remember (so very long ago) that I weighed 140 and wore a size 16 but this does not match up with what I'm reading here. Oh well, thanks for sharing.

Hey Joan,

I remember being 117 and wearing a size 8. Now that was hard to put into writing because I remember telling my friends at the time..."If I ever get like that again...please shoot me!" and I was speaking of myself as I am today. Good thing I no longer have those friends right?

Sizing can be very confusing. I'm 5'7" approx. and I weigh 157 and I'm in a 12, sometimes 14, depends. When I was 124 lbs. I was a loose 6. I had a 24 inch waist and 34 inch hips.

I am 5'4 and when I began my lifetime behavior modification at 174, I was in a size 14 (tight).

In the 160's, I dropped down to a size 12.

In the 150's, down to a size 10 and holding at 147...

Thanks to all of you for sharing your sizes. That helps tremendously!! I have an old, old, old, photo, the former me, now lost under this fat, where I wrote on the back that I weighed 142. I thought that would be a size 16 but I see I am wrong.

Now I am even more excited that I could actually wear smaller than a 16 when I get down close to where I think I will be happy.

Thanks again.

I'm confused Jaide...I weigh 165 and wear a size 10-12 pant as well...is it possible to be 30 pounds heavier than you but wear the same size?

 It is very possible....

It all depends on your height and how you carry your weight. I'm 5' 7" and currently wear a size 14 at 177 pounds. Last summer I got down to 147 and wore a 10. But several years ago, (11 to be exact) I weighed 147 and wore a size 14. I've been the same height the whole time but my body has changed. It seems that every time I gain and lose weight, i do it in different parts of my body.......It's not how much you weigh that determines your clothing size, it's how many inches you have.

Thanks Donna;

That does make sense...I guess I don't really pay enough attention to my inches, which I really should b/c then I could measure my progress a little better...
It tends to get discouraging not seeing any movement on the scale, but i've heard that you can lose inches without seeing weight loss...and I work out a lot so I'm hoping thats whats happening on those weeks where I don't see loss!

i guess it must be in how you "wear" your weight!

i am looking at this "5'8" and 225 I was wearing a size 22." and im like WOW.... i am 5-4 and close to 300 and i wear a 24/26 in a skirt (are skirts different than pants??? i dont wear pants so i dont know!)

so..... i dunno..... i remember when i was at 180 (when i got married.... i hovered between 170 and 180) i wore a size 13 jeans (they were my moms when she was a teen.... i am told its a size 12 now) so i think a lot depends on your personal build and such:)

139 pounds size 6
125 pounds size 4 (current)

I'm 5'1.

It's not only body shapes that are different. Different manufacturers use different sizes all the time. When I was 160-165 I wore size 16 and now that I'm 135 I wear anywhere between size 7 and 14!!!! (My bathing suit is the 14, and it's not loose, either.)

Which all means that I NEVER shop by catalogue. I try everything on because you never know what will fit and what won't.

I'm 5'5, 'top heavy' and have always had a really muscular lower body:

At 200 lbs, I wore size 14/16 pants (9 years ago)

at 266 lbs, I wore size 22/24 pants (2 years ago)

at 240 lbs, I wore size 20 and some 18 pants (earlier this year)

I am currently avoiding the scale but am wearing more 18's than 20's

I won't go into what size top I wear - I'm pretty sure surgery will be needed to make any significant reduction in shirt size ;-)

Cheers,

Niki
