sorry but that is a silly question...u mean carry around all day type of thing or when u lift?..let me tells ya sumthin...girls dont get big...u cant...the ones u see and have u believing its as easy as tying up your shoelace have probably done it (exercise/lifting) their whole lives and/or are on the roids...u simply dont have enough testosterone to build large amounts of muscle...even then u need to consider alot of protein into your diet to actually grow...so to your question u can lift as heavy as u like...the heavier u lift the more tone u get..u actually dont get big...but all this means nothing unless u diet and do cardio to see any muscle in the first place...there is no magical number to how much you should or shouldnt lift...if your that afraid of it then dont lift

Consider female figure skaters or even those teeny tiny olympic gymnasts. The moves the make, especially lifts or other positions that place their weight on their arms and shoulders, require huge effort and very STRONG muscles. These super petite athletes could bench press more than I could ever dream of.
But they don't look it, do they?
So, if they can develop strong, toned muscles and still look beautiful, the rest of us can too, don't yah think?

I am new to this site, but I have to agree with the two previous responses. There is no way you are going to get huge muscles without trying, but light weight training is an excellent way to up your metabolism. Muscle burns more than fat and as far as I know the only way to change body shape. If you simply cut calories you will lose mass, but stay the same shape you are right now. Toned and shaped bodies only come through weight training. If you decide to pick up weight training use light weights and do lots of reps.
By the way, I don't think there is anything wrong with toned and muscular women, not the ones on the cover of muscle mag, but definition is a great way for a woman to look good and healthy at the same time. Sickly skinny is no way to go!!!
