I`m wondering about letting go of my martial arts classes and devoting better efforts to my cardios and strength training.
I love martial arts but lately I`m starting to wonder if I`m too old to keep up with the younger classemates...And frankly those dives hurt! LOL
It`s starting to get harder to get the motivation to attend classes and I find myself hoping I will be able to keep up and also not get hurt before each class....Oh well, I kow I`m the only one to find the answer to that one but it feels good to put the feelings out there...B-ball season is starting soon, that will keep us busy everynight of the week!!! O.K. enough rambling.G

If your not getting the enjoyment out of it that you once were, then I would say focus on something else. If you want to boost your weight loss efforts, then upping your cardio would be a great step in the right direction. Or if you just need another hobby to get excited about, that would be good too.

Thanks for the input BFL.....I Know I have to make the descision, and I think that I need a break and will be going back to walking more and doing some strenggth training at home...I find that by the time I cook dinner , take the kids to their karate class 4-5x per week, I don`t always feel like staying the extra hour for my class. I used to be able to do the daytime class and really like those...I think the later ones are getting to be a bit for me .I still like karate but I think you hit the nail on the head when you mention about not getting as much enjoyment out of it...One other factor is putting perspetives in the right order....I have had a lot of issues to work with over the last 2 years and truly want to devote positive energy to my mariage..It`s hard to get to know hubby all over again if by the time he gets home from work at 8pm I`m gone to class 3x per week....I feel that I can get my work outs in the am and just enjoy family life at night...Whats the point of being in the best of shape physically if you don`t take time for the mental parts of your health...as you can see I`m analysing stuff right now and again just plain rambling...:D G

ST,
It sounds as if you already have answered your own question...quit karate immediately! Move on with your life to something more enjoyable and fulfilling. Don't waste another precious second of your life second guessing what you already know is true in your heart.

Since this month is paid for and I`ve already put in 8 months of work on this level I`ll do the grading on the 24th and then move on to more relaxing evenings...I`ve cut down to 2 classes per week....G

There are a lot of forms of martial arts. Try finding one that will fit better into your schedule and isn't so physically abusive.
