I was just wondering - you know how you're supposed to eat protein in order to build muscle? What happens if you don't eat enough protein? Does your muscle just not build, and so what happens in recovery period? I am starting to lose my taste for meat, and although i eat tons of yogurt and milk, i used to eat lots of lean meats and now, I'm worried that if i'm not eating enough protein. I don't want more suggestions for non-meat protein, i just was wondering if anyone knows what happen in terms of muscle. Thanks :)

Well, you basically answered your own question. Protein is very important in building muscle. Protein is food for your muscles. Just as you would starve without food, so does your muscles without protein! Taking a supplement such as L-Glutamine, will help in recovery.

protein is muscle, muscle is protein....u need atleast 1gm of protein per pound of body weight to grow (that is kind of past the beginners point, because they grow like a weed when they start sometimes without much protein)....i take my hat off to u for trying to get enough protein into your diet from food....theres no way i could do it..i would suggest a whey protein supplement shake, they are pleasant tasting (well most are!) and most are pretty much pure protein.
