Hi y'all. I am struggling a bit this week. I reached my halfway point, got my hair done, my face has completely cleared up from what I call my obesity acne. (another topic idea there) and I am looking great. I am wearing size 12 jeans, tucking my shirts in, etc. I feel wonderful, and am fighting the 'good enough' syndrome of packing it all in and keeping at this weight. I know I am still overweight, so why do I think I can stop here? I know I will be so much happier and healthier at 165. I've been there before my babies, so I know how I look at that weight. Fabulous. I think part of it is that I am now lower than I have been in 4 years and I am just thinking I'm something for accomplishing that, but I AM STILL FAT! The last 20lbs have not been terribly hard to shed, so it isn't even that I'm battle weary... How am I going to get through this mental wall? I know I need to keep at it, but I am struggling with wanting to keep at it. HELP! I don't want to be content at 184, but I'm afraid I will be.

You have just tasted contentment. There is nothing wrong with enjoying it along the way, I certainly am, as we should. I always do the same thing with cars when I buy them. I think "this will be good enough", then only to regret that I didn't get the bigger engine, the trim package and so on. Why let it be that way with our bodies...work hard only to finish with good enough? Go for it!

If it helps, I find that thought starting to creep in. I've lost 10 pounds and still want to lose 15...I just have to keep telling myself, I've been thinner and I want to be thinner. I'm not sure what is keeping me going, but getting my but to the gym this morning was a struggle.
Do you have pictures of yourself when you were where you want to be now? Maybe that would help. Or do you have clothes that still don't fit? I do and sometimes I have to think about that stuff and it helps. Good luck! Stay at it.

I fear of feeling this way when I get into the 140's. What I said I was going to do once I start feeling this way is to think once I start eating normal again, I will put on weight. I hope to only vary in weight by five pounds. If this is true I will only be 135 versus 150 (that is if I stop at 145). For you if you stop now and start eating normal, your weight will vary ~ five pounds. Wouldn't it be better to vary ~ five pounds at 165 than 184? I mean a five pound variance can put you back in the 190's.

YIKES! There is just something evil in my mind about 190+. The 180's seem benign... Melve, that was a wicked wake up call. Thanks.

Claire, look through some magazines or catalogs...like Victoria Secret's. Bebe has a great one too---these girls have the most incredible bodies. They are not stick thin, and they have nice womanly curves in all the right places. When I see them, I think "That is my ideal...I would do ANYTHING to look like them!"--that makes me remember to push even harder towards my goal.
Also, find someone you know who's body you desire. There is a girl here at work who is in her late 20's (ok..so I have only a few years on her at 31) and she has an incredible body. She works in my dept, so we are close enough that I could get her info--she's as tall as me at 5'4"--and wears a size 8 & is 130lbs. She matches my expectations of my goal..I wanted to be 135 (so maybe I'll have to lose another 5!)--and a size 8. Everytime I look at her, I think about how bad I want to try & reach my goal. She's very curvy...and has a nice flat stomach. Believe me, when we all go out...all the guys heads turn when they see her (I guess the tight clothes also help:)
Just a thought......

This is another good idea. I receive this catalog from Venus (dont know how they got my information) and they have some really nice clothes. Although they have my size in 12, I would much rather get down to a size 8 before I shop there. I feel like a kid again when going through the catalog saying, "I want that. I want this." Another thing that motivates me is watching E! Rank. One show was about the sexiest stars and seeing their bodies was really motivating (especially Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez...these girls are not thin but are nicely shaped).

Venus--that's also a good one. Models w\ some nice curves & meat on them....certainly quite sexy. JLo also has an awesome body--she would also be my ideal..(although she gets slack for her behind, it's not really big anymore..just enough). I also like E rank & Wild on E --those girls in the night clubs have some great bods..and most of the time they are hardly wearing anything!
I've always struggled w\ my weight & was no less than a 11\12 & 13\14 in high school---it would be a dream come true to have my ideal body & be able to wear a bikini at the beach...no wait..at least a swimsuit WITHOUT the cover-up! One piece or 2--at least I won't be ashamed of what I look like!

A year ago I weighed 250 pounds and wore a size 26 jeans. Today, I weigh 174 pounds and wear a size 14 (still not comfortable to tuck shirts in yet). I never in a million years thought I would see size 14 again and, yes, I do feel comfortable at this weight. I struggle with knowing, medically speaking, that I still have a significant amount of weight to lose, but, am elated with the fact that I've come so far and really, a size 14 isn't all that bad, especially compared to a size 26.
BTW - My family doc said he had no problem referring me for a breast reduction and possible skin removal (tons of hanging skin from the weight loss). I see a plastic surgeon here very soon!! YIPPEE!!

Shari.... after losing 76 lbs so far, if you already need a breast reduction and saggy skin removal (aka, tummy tuck) that could take a considerable amount of more pounds off, just by removing the skin!!! Just think, (go in weighing 170ish, come out *of course after recovery* weighing possibly 160ish!!!"
I will need a tummy tuck too, when I reach the under 200 mark, but not sure that I will be able to aford it, ever. ........... oh, by the way... my cup size is a double D, if you don't mind me asking... what is your cup size? I would never consider reducing my chest unless all my exess weight was gone already. It helps me stay proportioned right... lol

Yikes,
I feel the same too. I have taken off the last week and a half and went up three lbs. I think the weather has had a lot to do with it. I've somehow managed to keep working out but find myself cutting the time (instead of 30 minutes on the Gazelle, I did 20 then 15min) I keep telling myself that I'm gonna start again next Wed (after the holiday) I'm scared I might not make it back to motivation. I know what I want to be and was there 2 1/2 years ago (got the clothes to prove it) Also noticed my food choices are shifting and portions are getting bigger. I'm stressed cause I'm moving at the end of the month. I remember what motivated me last time was a friend of the family asking me when my baby was do. It so helps hearing I'm not alone. I know I won't gain all my weight back overnight, but I recall that saying being a culprit in my weight gain in the first place. I dont wanna be were I was four months ago. So I guess I just gotta keep on going
