Hi, I am new here. I was just wondering if it is possible to lose fifteen pounds healthily if you were to alter your diet and work out nearly every day? Is that a ridiculous aim?

I've lost almost 80 pounds in about 16 months. 15 pounds isn't going to be a problem!
But, it also depends on the length of time you wish to lose it. If you want to lose it by the end of the week, yes, it would be a problem. Give yourself some time!

That sounds so practical that it is hard to believe it actually works, as long as your not thinking you will do it in 30 days that is. Good luck, you can do it, and do it painlessly if you choose. Stick around and see how others are successful, decide what works for you and go with it.

I'll attest to 11 lbs anyway. Another thought I had was .... how heavy are you now. If you're 5'9" and weigh 102 then maybe not!

It all boils down to eat less, exercise more. Eating healthy helps, follow the food guide pyramid.
I watch my fat and sugar intake. Some do the Atkins. Some watch their carbs. Some are veggetarians. You have to find what works for you.
It's taken me almost 16 months to lose 80 pounds. I have about 45 more to go. Someday I plan on investing in a scanner to show all of you my before and after pictures!!

Oops, I forgot to put in the rest of that message! What I meant to ask was, "is it possible to lose fifteen pounds in one month healthily if you work out etc." That message musn't have made any sense. Sorry.

That changes things substantially. If you do manage to drop that much weight in one month, you must know that the changes in your body will not be as if you had lost it over a two month period. I believe that fat will only account for as much as half of the total weight dropped in that period. Let's say your down 15 on the scale at the end of 30 days. The minute you start eating normal again you will probably see and immediate increase of around 3-5 lbs just from the additional food and water the food contains, and takes to digest. I'm sure your interested in how you look when your finished, and I really believe that 15 lost in a month will not even look as good as 10 in a month and a half. Very obese people who begin weight loss often see that kind of progress in the beginning, but for most of us I couldn't classify that kind of loss as healthy. If you are only 15 Lbs overweight I call it drastic. Also exercise really accounts for about 10% of weight loss, so most of it will have to come from calories. That is 52, 525 calories less you will have to eat to lose that much fat. Hon, your going to be starving yourself to do it. Lastly, only anorexics or people with eating disorders won't be able to see the logic behind it. You still did not give us a lot of details about how old you are, how tall, how much you weigh now, and why you need to lose it so fast. There are a lot of factors to consider when one wants to know if it's healthy or not.
