Hello. I was just wondering if its ok to workout 7 days a week or does your body need at least 1 day to rest. I know that it isn't good to do resistance training two days in a row, but my schedule would look like...
Sun- resistance training
Mon- cardio
Tues- resistance training
Wed- cardio
Thurs- cardio
Fri- resistance training
Sat- cardio
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

i would give your body a day off...otherwise your heading into overtraining OR you may give it up simply because its such a hectic workload...as for weights everyday that is ok, as long as the muscle group is different each day...i weight train 5 days a week but i only do one or 2 muscle groups per day...if you do whole body workouts, then i would scrap your sunday weights and keep it as a rest day where u do nothing...you will still get fantastic results, diet depending ofcourse, and its more likely you can stick to it...plus you will find your body will respond better to atleast 1 day off.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting in some programmed exercise every day. I strive to exercise every day for three reasons:

1) I've still got fat to remove and I want to get it gone.

2) It keeps me on a schedule that is easy to remember

3) It makes me feel good that I've done something good for my body

On my 7th day, I do cardio only for about 45 minutes. Once I get to my maintance weight, I still want to do some kind of programmed exercise every day--just not as much cardio and adding some different things like yoga, pilates, tennis, or some other form of movement.

I've accepted the fact that former fatties must continue to do some type of programmed exercise for the REST OF THEIR LIVES--lest the fat they think they've "lost" finds them again.

When I first started working out I was really in to it, 7 days a week regardless of how I felt. Then, after a few weeks (3 I think it was) of doing that I became lethargic and noticed that when I did my exercises I wasn't getting a good workout....just going through the motions without sweating. I posted about it here and took Gyms advise to take 1 day off (now it's 2 days off) and I haven't felt that way since. My body really needed a rest.

The best advise I can give is to try it and see. Your body will let you know if it is to much.

Your body could probably handle working out every day on most weeks unless you are sick or something, but your mind needs the freedom to take a break without you feeling guilty. I would give yourself permission to skip any two days out of seven in a week to allow for .............you just not being in the mood on a given day, or being too busy with other things. If you aim for 4 to 5 days then you can be proud that you kept your promise to yourself instead of feeling like a failure when you don't do 7. If you do 7 days in a given week you can feel like super woman! Lesley
