hi again sorry to keep ask lots daft questions
but
potaotes i have been disscusing my life style changes in the office this morning when discussing last nights meal of grilled lemon chicken with a large salad and boild new pototoes with the skins on drissled with a tinny amount olive oil. I was greated with gasps of oh no you can't potatoes. My question is why surely a balanced meal need some carbs .

Potatoes are great for you!
It's the stuff we always add that kills us.
Baked potatoe = good!
Baked potatoe with sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, etc = not good.
Broiled potatoes = great
Fried pootatoes = not good.
Long as you ate it in moderation (not eating a whole bowl yourself) then it sounds to me you did very good.

Thank you. That is what i thought although i concider my self well educated and relatively inteligent nutrition is something i know very little about. Although i am learning it is a lot of common sense
I have first step class tonight can not wait . I hope the class is not full of extremally fit people. But i keep telling my self that i am going for myself no-one else and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks of me.( If i say it enough i may begin to believe it )
thank you for the info

tomorrow is going to the biggest challenge so far.
Friday lunch times we up hold the English tradition of having fish and chips although lovely even i know they have to be the worst food you can eat ouzzing with fat not good
i will be strong i shall either pack something yummy and healthy from home or make my excuses and go shopping at lunch time.

owch..fish and chips are definately dangerous. IF you do wind up eating them, just have a little. It will be alright :)

proberbly best i stay clear of them this week. when i have got more good habits than bad in a few weeks time i might have a small portion as cheat/treat.
but to be honest i would rather save the calories and have a glass of wine on friday evening

I also won't give up potatoes. I usually have one baked with a calorie free butter spray and pepper. If you like sweet potatoes or yams, those are good too.

Marie Clair...where do you live...the spray is called "I can't believe it's not Butter" and we love it in my house but joke that it's just a molecule away from plastic (what can it be that tastes good but has no calories?). Also, I believe in massive quantities it has calories but it's undrer the 5 calories in one serving (which is five sprays) so the FDA allows them to say it has no calories. The bottle says there are 904 servings per container. Yeah right! I'm guessing I get maybe 1/3 of that out of one.

Gasp says the low-carber! Just kidding. Most of the calories in that meal will come from the carbohydrates in the potatoes so you shouldn't have more than a few. There are carb choices that are better - beans are great carbs and are very high in fiber. Adding the olive oil is actually a great choice because that will help slower down the digestion of the carbohydrates in the potatoes and will slow down the blood sugar hike you get after eating them which generally leaves you more hungry.

there's a couple of reasons I don't eat potatoes but .... the other day, I needed a baked one. I went to the store bought one for each of us (mine the smallest), low fat sour cream and real butter. It was a delightful treat and not as high calorie as I expected. Yum!

I love that stuff also! It just adds enough flavor to trick you into believing you are eating something bad! I posted a message for you and Vicki yesterday to see how you were after your falls and I never got an answer.........pout!
