Do take pride in the fact that you didn`t indulged yourself with the tempting candies, chocolates and chips that found their way to your place...(if you didn`t)
Do make sure to live the guilt behind if you indulged in thos tempting treats and start fresh today...
Do realise that life will throw temtaptions in your way every now and then but that buy building good habits now the damage won`t be as bad later...
Do take all those goodies and put them out of sight(you don`t have to deprive the kids)you don`t need to torture yourself with the sight of them and I do find that out of sight can be out of mind....
Do take extra pride in your exercises today, they will help put behind yesterday....
Oh yea since my title was Do`s and Don`ts...
Don`t beat yourself up if you cave in, take a step forward and look towards tomorrow not yesterday....
Have a great day.....Leanbutt

Well...I for one indulged last night. I haven't eaten a chocolate bar for months but last night I just had to have 10 "little" ones. I figure if I deprived myself I would want them even more. I think you should be concious about what you eat but still leave some room to enjoy the tasty things in life now and then.
I hope everyone else had a safe and Happy Halloween!
Now onto the festive season with it's own challenges.

I found a way to get around the temptation of all that candy.
I waited until Halloween Day and went th the store and found
little toys ( skeletons spiders etc) and handed them out instead.
My house was the busiest on the street, the kids were telling other
kids about the lady handing out toys.
I didn't eat a sinlgle one (he! he!)

Thanks, Leanbutt. I caved yesterday. My macho son (12) came home last night, from what was probably his last hurrah with trick or treating, with 209 pieces of "treats". He had done that without going to any apartment building or dormitory. He emptied the pillowcase full of candy onto his quilt. I really regret it now, but asked him if I could have a peppermint york patty and he said "Help yourself mom". Before I knew it, I had five empty candy wrappers in my hand! I couldn't believe what I had done because I had been so good for so long. So I was running this morning at 8AM and it felt great to sweat! But what makes me feel ok about this is that I really like the eating habits that I've acquired over the past 15 months. I like eating special k with strawberries, skim milk and banana. I like snacking on an apple. I like eating a small amount of low fat peanut butter and pear sandwich. I like eating a wendy's salad for dinner and a weight watchers ice cream treat for a snack. I guess the "diets" that are successful are the ones we can live with for the rest of our lives. As for my son, I think he eats like a typical kid and he is off now competing in a junior tennis tournament, another situation that can send me to food. Thanks for your inspiration.

You`re welcome, I also had my treats the night of Halloween once the kids came home and then I didvided the treats in 3, chips, chocolate bars and candy...I put the chocolate bars and the chips in bags and put them in the freezer so that they keep longer and stay fresh but also because "out of sight out of mind" not only for me but for the kids and my husband as well...When the kids remember about the goodies they are allowed to pick 2 "frozen item" ....The candy I store in a big plastic container and then they usually get to pick a few items from that pile after they come home from school...Soon that pile will be gone and I make sure they brush a bit longer at nightime . This way it keeps the kids and the dentist happy!!!:), Like you said a"healthy lifestyle is one you can live with the rest of your life" and there must always be room for compromise once in a while withouth guilt...YOU ate candy like me, you started fresh the next day...voila a compromise!he,he,he
