Dear all,
this is the first time I have posted on here, but I need your help.I have lost nearly 3 stone(42lb) but the problem is now I have maintained for nearly 10 months.I go to the gym regularly sometimes up to 3 times a week, and do weights as well as cardio work.
I am desperate to lose another stone but I was wondering if the muscle I have built is what is preventing me to lose more weight.I know muscle weighs more than fat,but the weight loss or lack of it is making me quite upset.I know I have lost tonnes of inches through the exercise,I am not complaning about that but need to know if you think the body hits a plateau weight wise then it is only toning up that makes us thinner or able to wear looser clothes.
Please help I am getting really dispondant about this all as I really want to start losing some pounds as well as inches,
So please reply with your views and if anyone has over come this problem please let me know.
Ty so much Catherinexx

Go beg borrow or steal the week one weight watchers book and stick to the plan for a few weeks. I guarrantee it will start to fall off again. Eat more fish meals ( tuna, salmon for dinner and lunch) and it will all start to happen . Here's to a new you!

on the controir (however u spell it) the more muscle u have the better...muscle requires more calories, so in effect you will burn more cals just sitting there than someone who has little muscle.
You have to change your workout and diet...the body adapts to things quite quickly...more intense workouts or different exercises or even NOT eating so healthy for a week can restart the process...you must progressively overload the body, wether it be cardio or weights because your body will just adapt to what u give it...push yourself harder and harder each time and your body will respond by giving u better results.

He's right. I hit a mini-wall when I was doing just what I normally did. Soon as I pushed myself a bit harder, I was back on track

Wow... you've hit the same plateau that I have. I lost 42 lbs and now I'm stumped. Maybe GM can give you some good advice. He's the exercise guru around here :P
Sorry I can't be of more help but at the moment, I can't even figure out how to lose weight myself.
Don't worry though, there are so many helpful and knowledgeable people here that I'm sure you'll find a solution :))
Cheers,
Luna
