 plateau......plateau .....plateau

I am basically just writing to vent. I am EXTREMELY frustrated with this plateau I have been at for almost a month and a half now. My goals are starting to crumble right before my eyes. I know I should not be focused on my goal dates and what not but it is hard not to. Summers are so hard ESPECIALLY with picnincs upon picnics upon picnics and parties. You all know how it is. How long can you expect a plateau to last? Honestly, I have not been very good at "changing it up" as I seem to be comfortable with the weight loss plan that I had after all it lost me 20 some lbs. If I continue on the same weight loss plan will I eventually start losing weight again or do I HAVE to change it up? lol....dumb question I guess. Thanks for listening to me and in advance for all your responses!
Julie

Hey Julie, I thought you were talking about me there for a minute LoL cause after losing 20 lbs, I also hit a nasty plateau and didn`t see any lb loss for over a month, instaed it would fluctuate between 173 lbs to 175 lbs although I did notice some clothes getting loser.....I do know why you feel the need to vent and venting is very good ....I finally broke that plateau and lost 2 lbs this week and am now 171 lbs down from 193 lbs ...I think that the fact that I made changes in my work out routine finally did it, I` ve started doing some basic strength trainning again, and for my cardios I switch some of the treadmill work outs for jijutsu classes, different muscles are being used and I do break out a sweat with theses classes....I think that those changes are the reason I`m finally coming off the plateau because like you summer is hard to handle but once you get used to a work out routine your body doesn`t work as hard to burn the fat...Does this make sense?

its all about overload...u dont have to change it up really its a myth that the body gets used to exercise HOWEVER it does adjust to training levels and intensity (the longer u practice u get better at something right?...so to for fat loss..say u run 5 miles a day..in a few months u need to run 6 miles or shave 10 minutes off your time to keep the fat loss going)....increase intensity/set time goals or make sure there is some sort of progressive overload, otherwise if u can run 2 miles and come home and think 'gee that was easy' then you know your cheating yourself...good luck
