I was wondering, if all things are equal, meaning you are eating and exercising about the same as you usually do, if and when you experience a plateau.
I don't mean when you go off your diet, or splurge, but those of you that are able to be consistent; do you have plateaus and how long do they usually last? Thanks for your answers.

I just finally broke a 4-5 week platuea this week. I was getting really discouraged but continued with my program, and finally, FINALLY, it showed up. I weighed yesterday and it was down three pounds. Just keep up with the good work and the rewards will eventually come!!

I went through a 3 month plateau last summer. I had lost a lot of weight already then got stuck right at 200. It was frustrating, but I stuck with my new habits, and finally started losing again in August. I did have to make adjustments though. I made exercise a priority, instead of "when I can find time". I started weightlifting with the thoughts of some added muscle would help, and it certainly did. I did cut back the calories a little bit at that time too, just to get jump started again. I had a smaller bod, so I needed less calories. Since then, been losing slow and steady.

I don't have a real strict program that I follow (I don't count or write down calories or write down exercise miles, minutes or reps). I have a one-pound-per-week goal, so I just exercise daily, eat healthy the majority of the time, try to drink lots o'water, and have treats in moderation and small portions. So far (7 months) I've been pretty much making or exceeding my 1-pound goal; but there are a few weeks that I stayed the same, but only till the next week. I've still got 35 pounds to go until goal so I'm still dreading hitting one of those "don't budge for a month or two plateaus." In order to avoid it, I've been reading all kinds of tips about mixing up exercising and changing eating routines and have been working that into my program all along. I also "bank" any pounds I remove over an above the 1-pound per week (I've got 6 so far) to use during the weeks I get "stuck" just to see the numbers continue to move down (it's a "head game" I play to keep my motivation high).

for most people platues arent that difficult to get over, unless your weight is really quite low already and you have been at this kind of thing for years..platues are just your body saying its time for change...like one of the lady's said above, she had to make some changes (exercise more and start weights)...this change got her losing again...if your already doing these things religously its time to change the diet a bit, change the type of exercise, how intense you do it etc etc
