okay, so the media has been trying to guess just how much weight Star Jones (from the view) has lost and they have been "guessing" (just on looks...) that she has lost around 75 pounds. Star is a very private person and when asked what she has been doing she has very nicely answered "none of your beeswax". Well, I saw a show earlier this week or was it last week...?...anyhow, she said (FINALLY!) that since september she has been doing pilates. now, i'm thinking that my body type is alot like her before weight and there is no way I could do pilates without looking like a teeter-totter! I would like to try this exercise...but am not "just chunky"...anyone have any tips on what sort of video I may need to get started? something like..."pilates for meatballs"... ;)
THANKS!!!
please don't write back and yell at me for calling myself a meatball...IT"S ALL IN HUMOR!! he he.

I started out with this one a year ago:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1577132858/qid=1073013157/br=1-7/ref=br_lf_v_7//002-5308792-9474431?v=glance&s=video&n=290289
You'll have to cut and paste that huge web addy. It was touted as being "too easy" by just about everyone I talked to. But at 250 pounds, it was just what I needed. I can't remember, but it incorporated pilates to some extent, but was not just pilates.

LOL...I have the pilates for dummies video and although I haven`t used it enough, I like the way the instructor demonstrates all of the exercises in the easier version and then the more advance and also stresses the fact to do what you can until it becomes easier. You should be able to find the video farelly easy and I also liked the fact that I didn`t need some of the weird gadgets with this one...You can also check the video section of your local library and try a few before buying one...G

I just bought a DVD called "Pilates conditioning for Weight Loss." The workout is created with larger bodies in mind. The dvd includes 3 workouts and "additional on-screen instruction." It also has different modifications for each exercise depending on your fitness level: fully modified, partially modified, or the full version. It is made by the Gaiam Corporation and the Instructor is Suzanne Deason. I figured it would be a good introduction to pilates but also has the option of increasing the difficulty level over time. Since I just got it, I haven't had a chance to try it out. But it sounds like it will be beneficial!
