perseverance pays off, Friday`s weigh in
Author: simply trying

Well after all my moaning and groaning...The 2 lbs are gone this morning! I have been drinking more water and had a more efficiant amount of sleep last night...So I sit at 160 this morning (close to my lowest weightloss of last year) but I won`t change the numbers yet because this is our play off week end in baseball and we play tonight, saturday and sunday and it is pot luck foods all week end! Monday morning we are taking the kids camping for the week...This has been plained for a long time and the kids are really looking forward to it so of course I`m bringing my bike and hope that I can use it more then the last camping trip! Wonderful! :)

I read your post below about pulling the "tough girl" act. I do that too. But I also, like you, have changed the "oh who cares" routine to "I DO care and I'm not getting down on myself again."

Being down on myself so much is part of what caused me to overeat. I'd make a big bowl of pasta in a cream sauce and catch a glimpse of my reflection walking past a mirror, a big blob of a person carrying a big bowl of food and I would just shake my head and continue walking to my destination to sit down and finish off the whole bowl. The whole time thinking to myself, "who cares?"

Hard to imagine going back to a lifestyle like that now when I've become so picky about what I eat. Except for the last couple of days, that is, lol.

I finally, finally lost most of the 7 extra pounds I was carrying around for so many days. 6 were water weight, 1 was fat, which is about what I expected based on my calorie count. So I'm upping my stats by 1 pound this week (honesty is SO painful). I am going to do my best not to gain any more weight during my family reunion/vacation over the next 10 days. I am going to be as active as my nasty little knees will allow. Willpower and Vicodin shall triumph!

See you all in September, and good luck to everyone in the meantime!

Holding steady at 107. I was up to 109 after the weekend and by Wednesday I was back to 107 and that's where I am this morning. No lake tonight or Saturday so the eating and drinking will be toned down just a little. Maybe I can acutally lose a pound by next Friday weigh in. I'm thinking I would still like to reach my goal of 105 and be there for at least a couple of days.

Miranda,

I thought of you last night and wanted to tell you to SWIM! Swimming is an awesome workout and so easy on the knees, joints etc. I've been reading more about it lately. I've always know though how great of an exercise swimming can be. Aren't you staying at a resort? Well...I bet they have a pool and maybe even an indoor pool. I love to swim and after I sprained my foot that's what I did for a week instead of the elliptical. I'm back on the elliptical now, but I probably shouldn't be...

I hope you have an awesome time! Have you been pracitcing your damsal in distress technique??

I'm the same. That's OK, it's a perfectly acceptable weight.
Besides the weights thing, I've started filling a 4 litre jug of water and making my way though it each day. So, we'll see what happens next week with those changes.

I don't think they have a pool--they advertise as a "rustic" resort--but they do allegedly have a hot tub/jacuzzi which will be great for sore joints, if indeed it exists and is running. But we were thinking about going to some hot spring pools nearby where we may be able to swim. Swimming in general is a good idea, but I'll have to see if there are any good/safe ones near my house.

Re vacation rescues, I used to faint a lot (my doctor said "some people just do that--don't worry about it"), and self-preservation (you don't want to hit anything on the way down) has made me an expert at gently crumpling into a swoon that would put a Southern belle to shame, fluttering eyelashes and all, which really impresses people who don't know me intimately. The only problem I can foresee is that I would be hiking with my family, and they would not be impressed, and would probably leave me for the mountain lions. But I am still scheming, so we'll just have to see how it works out.

As for you, let those compulsive urges run wild and go for the 105!!!

I did it with 5 lb hand weights. I can go to 7.5 if I put my ankle weights on my wrists. But I have a line on, maybe free ( as in no $$), a set of weights.
