contains good fats..as do most nuts by themselves..a diet rich of omega 3-6-9 fats helps you lose weight because it makes the bad fats (the ones u want 2 get rid of!) more mobile and allows for them to be oxidized.

it still pays to read the labels...some peanut butters are full of saturated fats, the kind u dont want...and remember when taking into account calories, fat grams are still fat grams wether they be healthy or not..1 gram of fat, omega 3-6-9 or saturated still yeilds 9 calories where as carbs and protein yeild 4.

Check out a health food store, they usually carry all different kinds of nut butters that are low in saturated fats, my personal fave is almond butter.

Yes Jill, I love almond butter too! I have always disliked peanut butter, but I love to snack on nuts, and put them in my yogurt. My favs to eat are walnuts, pecans, almonds, and cashews, and I buy them all UNsalted from a nut shop in town. As for nut butters, I had been making peanut butter in the blender for the kids, so I tried almond butter, and fell in love! It messes up the blender so that i really have to wash it (rather than the quick rinse it gets when I puree tomatoes), but it is worth it when I spread a little of that almond butter on my toast! Making nut butter is easy: just throw the nuts in the blender, process at slowest speed for a few seconds, then as the nuts break up, turn uip the speed until you have a butter-like texture. The homemade nut butters need regrigerating, and won't keep long, since they have no preservatives. Of course, they taste so good, they wouldn't last long in our house anyway!!!!
Cheers, Dee

I'll have to try making my own almond butter, its expensive to buy, but I also love it more than peanut butter, pb tends to upset my stomach, even just a little bit. We also love pecans, and here in Texas they are every where and pretty cheap to buy. I love to toast and crush them to sprinkle on salads.
