lately i have been getting these horrible stomach pains to the point that i can't move~! since i have changed my lifestlye i have limited myself to three servings of carb a day, before 7 pm. whenever i get these stomach aches (quite a lot for the last 6 months or so... maybe from skool stress???) the only way i can calm them is by eating carb rich foods!!! i was wondering if anyone knows any other foods that i can calm the stomach with without loading up on excess carbs???

Hi Maggy,
There is nothing wrong with eating carbs, as long as you stay within your daily calorie limit.
Best regards,
Melanie

Hi Deb,
I am currently trying to lose my weight...after my first child was born I walked everyday and ate healthy and managed to go from 223 to 153 pounds. After my 2nd and 3rd were born (15 months apart!!) I struggled with my weight and went to see a dietician. She told me to keep my fat calories at 365 for the day and I would lose weight. She said when I hit the 365 fat cals for the day I was done with fat and if I wanted to eat more I could , just no more fat. It helped a lot because it gave me the freedom to eat whatever I wanted as long as I stayed in the 365 fat calories range. There were days when I had oreos or a couple chips even. But I stayed in the range she told me and didn't exceed and I did lose fat. I didn't do anything but count fat cals for the days. I didn't look at fat grams or total calories, just fat cals. I say as long as you are in your range of calories and fat you should be able to eat whatever you like. This will limit you if you eat more fattening foods. Good luck Jamie

Your symptoms sound like hyperacidity/acid-reflux to me to some extent - horrible pain, relieved by food - particularly bland stuff - intake. It's a very common condition - especially when stressed and on a limited bulk/high protein/high fat diet. If you do not care to take any food any more, try some antacids like Tums or Rolaids. Or keep some soda crackers and nibble on those. You would really just need a few of the crackers to help with the symptoms, which means you really do not have to eat too much. Of course, avoid soda and other carbonated drinks, alcohol, caffeine, smoking and mints - all of which tend to make it worse. Needless to say, you should see physician. This is a rudimentary diagnosis based on what is most common for the symptoms outlined- but there are other things that could be happening (aka, ulcers, gallbladder problems, etc.) and they need to be eliminated.
By the way, you sound like me when I was in college stressing out about getting into my post-grad school of choice.
