Hello,
I started really working out a week and a half ago...yoga, weight training, cardio, you name it. I've been very dedicated and my work outs have been very intense. My eating has also been very healthful and low cal. So I don't understand why the scale says that I am 5 lbs. heavier than I was last week! I have a good 50 lbs. to lose so I don't understand how my weight could increase so much in one week when I am doing everything in my power to decrease it. Is that kind of weight gain normal when starting an intensive weight training schedule? I find it very discouraging and I would love some feedback. Thanks!

Right now the best advice I can tell you is to avoid the scale for the next few weeks and just keep doing the work outs and eating the right number of cals for you (everyone is differant). The body does fluctuate as much as 5 lbs per day for any reason so it`s hard to pinpoint why you had that 5 lbs increase but more then likely in a few days it would show a decrease more to your liking...This is why the best way to monitor your improvement right now is by taking measurements once a month...The scale is a good tool to keep you in check when you are maintaining etc.. but can play major mind games with you when you are trying to lose weight...
It`s hard to see those numbers on the scale and not feel discouraged after all the hard work...Ask yourself this question...Do I feel like I was doing everything right? if the answer is yes then know that eventually positive results will show...If on the other end you make to much of the numbers on the scale you are setting yourself up for a future of frustration!
It does sound like you are on the right track and remember one thing, in order to get the most out of your body, it must have some rest period here and there so go for the extra work outs but find out the best way tp perform by doing a search on line...G
