My sister and I begin dieting together about 2 weeks ago. I have 15 lbs to lose and I can't keep on track, my motivation to exercise is zero! I have one of those eclyptical machines at home but it's boring! And I love to eat sweets especially ice cream from the "sonic drive in". I have 2 kids and am a nurse we eat out too much and I rarely ever plan our or my meals. My sister and I tried weight watchers and I lost 7 punds but gained it back. I know that you can lose weight at any age but it certain;ly gets harder as I get older (I'm 40). another thing is that when I am atressed I hit the sweets, I feel as if I have to have something in my mouth all the time. Now I am back to counting points. Anyone out there a weight watcher drop out like me?
Any encouragement would be appreciated!!

You just described me two months ago with the exception of the sweets. I prefer pork ribs, and beer. I am never motivated to exercise until I make up my mind, make a plan and stick with it. After the first two weeks, and I'm over the soreness, and starting to feel alive again, it gets a lot easier, and I find myself thinking about what else I can do to improve myself. As of today that was 16 pounds ago. Lets say you went to sleep and woke up 15 Lbs lighter. Would you eat any differently than the way you just described? If so, what would be your motivation, and why not start now? If not, do you believe that the weight will not come back as magically as it disappeared? See where I'm going?
I'm about to turn 44, single father, with an 8 year old, and always short on time. When I cook, its for three days worth so I can freeze some, since we don't do fast food any more. Instead of emotionally eating, I emotionally exercise. I have a small golf cooler I bring to work with food that I set aside the night before, so I don't end up at Chick Filet or Taco Bell. I hope a few of these tips help.
There are plenty of people on this forum who can relate, and are making it work for them. Hope I will be reading your posts regularly.

I took ages to get into the habit of exercising regularly-the start can be so hard cos its such a shock to your system if youre not used to doing anything. But it does get easier and you can make it a lifelong habit unlike dieting which, in around 95% of cases, fails us!
You could prob make a few changes to your eating habits but start with the exercise first-one step at a time!

If you need something in your mouth--go ahead--try a yogurt, celery, carrots, an apple, an orange, a banana, green beans, etc. It seems impossible at first but we're rooting for you!!!
I eat out a lot and travel weeks at a time. I discovered that my best defense ia a good offense. I eat frequently (every 2-3 hours) so I never get REALLY hungry. Almost every convenience store has fresh fruit, yogurt and water. If you must eat at a fast food place have a grilled chicken or a regular hamburger and milk. Try to decide what you will eat before you walk through the door--eliminate the range of choices when you are feeling the most hunger.
Drink a lot of water--it helps with the hunger and it's good for you.
I 've had my best results by concentrating on eating healthily--I never deny myself food. The weight comes off more slowly, but I never feel deprived. Keeping positive spin on whatever food plan you choose--concentrating on the positive, healthy aspects will help keep your spirits up--critical to maintaining health.
