Hi, I'm forgiven and I have been viewing this sight for a couple of days. Reading what all of you have to write has really given me hope and helped me to help myself. I am a senior in high school and all throughout my junior high and high school years I have played sports, Basketball, volleyball, and softball. During basketball, I can eat whatever I want and still lose weight because I run soo much, but when basketball season ends I gain weight and fast, even though I still exercise. I know that I have to eat right, but does anyone know how I can do this?

Well Forgiven, sounds like you need to balance things out a bit. You are burning off everything you eat when you play b-all and that's great but what happens when you stop...weight gain. Which tells me you need to do more cardio when you stop.
AND you are right...you need to eat more healthy when you are playing b-all so that your metabolism doesn't take a jolt when you stop. Make new habits for yourself, starting with snacks...no junk! Only good stuff like veggies, fruit, lowfat cereal bars, rice cakes, yogurt, oatmeal or fat-free frozen yogurt. Then once you get the snack thing down, move to water...drink a lot of water! Then go on to meals. Change your milk from 2% to skim. Divide your plate into equal parts of protein(meats),carbs(pasta, rice)veggies and fruits. Serving size should be the size of your fist. Remember no after dinner snacks. No seconds. Before you know it, you've made a lot of great new habits for yourself. You have to keep up with good eating habits because once you stop b-ball your metabolism starts to slow down...eat better and do more cardio after b-ball. Good luck and I hope this helps! Jamie

Hey Jamie, thanks soo much for your advice, it's great, I'm in volleyball season right now so I've been trying to start this new thing now before basketball season comes around... it's coming up soon, but I'm hoping that I can keep up with this change so that I won't screw things up later on. I've been reading the stuff that people put on this site and it has really been helping me out. I just want to say thanks to you Jamie, Newbeee, GymMachine, Melanie,Michelle, Derrick, leanbutt and all the others. You have all helped me soo much. If any of you have any more ideas for me please do tell. Thanks and God Bless
