oh my...I'm not doing well at this at all. For the past three weeks I haven't posted with the Monday weigh ins because I'm thoroughly stuck. I haven't lost in almost 4 weeks. It's frustrating because I'm a nursing mom and I need to keep my caloric intake up so I don't shortchange my body, but I want to see a healthy loss as well. Do I need to wait until the baby is weaned to begin to see real results? I'm getting easily depressed over the whole thing. Thankfully, I haven't binged or anything, but I'm sick of exercising and still not seeing any reduction in weight or size. I guess I'll keep going. I'm tempted to modify my goal weight. Let me know what you think.

I don't know if this helps or not but a friend of mine who was nursing said she noticed (and was told by her doctor) that when she nursed her stomach shrunk back down. So keep that in mind as you're nursing. :-) And don't think of your weight as just fat weight,...you just carried a baby, there is water weight, the weight of having to nurse, all of that. So don't be so hard on yourself.
In my case my son is 8 and I have yet to loose the weight since having him. In fact I've gained. But that's all about to change. Nooo, don't give up! Once you get healthier you'll have all that energy to give to your child, and believe me you'll need it! :-) (Congratulations by the way on your little one!)

Anne, I had a baby 5 months ago, he is my second baby and I found it very hard to start losing the weight, infact it just started coming off. When I first joined this group I posted a question regarding losing "baby Weight" and several people replied back that their experience was that nursing didn't help them lose weight. But don't stop nursing...if you don't want to, try other things like changing your exercise routine , changing around your calorie intake ( still staying within a healthy range for you and your baby). I also think thast being chronically tired ( which with having a new baby you must be) can hinder weight loss. I felt that once my baby was sleeping a bit more in the n ight and I wasn't as exhausted all the time I could concentrate on eating better and exercicing more. I know how hard it is...just remember the baby will get older and easier and you will lose weight. Best of luck and hang in there!

Hi Anne, I have had 3 children and have nursed each one. From my experience nursing help a great deal. It forced me to eat right(for the baby I was then feeding)and it made me really take care of myself. Having someone completely dependent on you can be very stressful so make sure you drink alot of water and eat correctly for your baby but also for you. Nursing allowed me to lose the weight very fast but remember everyone is different and you need to give it time.
