Wow! What an accomplishment!!! If you don't mind me asking.... What are you stats? starting weight / current weight / and goal weight ??? I ask because most of us here post this info and it really helps to know people that are in similar weight loss zones. I have lost 80 pounds in the last year and a half and still need to shed another 100 to get to my goal weight. My starting weight was 350 pounds. Currently I weigh 270, and my goal is 180-ish :-) I lost the first 40 pounds very easily, then the next 40 was quite a bit more difficult. I have now been stuck at about the same weight losing and gaining the same 5 pounds over and over again since Christmas. Is that a rut, or a plateau?? Or just bad eating habits?? LOL
Anyway... I'd like to know what you did to lose 182 lbs so quickly.....
Welcome to the board!

The last several pounds are always the hardest and a few of us here are in that mode. Me included. Are you keeping a food journal? If not I would suggest determining how many calories you need to maintain your current weight and subtract 500 from that. Write down everything you eat and it's calorie content and stay under or at the number of calories you have set for yourself. Also, cardio, lots of intense cardio will help. If you haven't started lifting weights yet, that will also help out alot.

hi melody,
I started at aprox 325 and am currently 143. My goal is to get to 118 by Jul 1, It doesnt feel like a short time- It feels like its taking forever and this last few pounds are driving me nuts. I try to eat a balanced diet which includes alot of chicken breast and salad and also lots of veggie soup. Also take a herb made from crushed griffonia seed that seems to help alot with appetite suppression and attitude. Youve lost quite a bit of weight yourself. what are you doing? maybe if I follow someone elses plan I can get rid of these last few pounds!!!!!!!

thank you michelle. I never really have kept a journal of any type but have decided to. I think what Im going to do is plan EXACTLY what Im going to eat everyday along with what exercise I will do and when. Hopefully if Im looking at what Im supposed to do it will give me the incentive to do it

Planning your meals and workouts ahead of time is very important. If you have a plan you are less likely to over eat, or eat something you shouldn't.
Being prepared and having a plan has been a huge factor in my success so far. I pack my meals every morning and I know what I'm going to do in the gym ahead of time every day.
I've been following the Body for Life plan except I do cardio everyday instead of 3 times a week. I on my 12th week.

First--WOW!!! What an accomplishment! You'll lose the last 25 for sure, with that kind of track record, but everyone else is right--the last few pounds are the hardest. I'm there, too. You have to keep eating less the more you lose, and for the weight you're aiming for, the amount you need to eat to lose weight is not much at all. I agree with everyone else--keep a food journal and count your calories for at least a while. If you're not losing that means that you are eating enough calories to maintain you current weight, and need to eat less if you want to lose. You can probably find high-bulk, low calorie foods to substitute for higher calorie foods you are eating, which will make it easier to feel full on fewer calories. Good luck!
