Hi! I am starting a new diet where I am keeping track of what I eat and how many calories I take in. I am 180, 5'6 and want to be to normal size someday (which is no more than 150). My calorie intake for the past week has been about 1500. What I am wondering is about the grams of fat. I know that if the fat grams are close to the number of calories, this is very bad. Is there any way to find out how many fat grams I should be consuming?
And does anyone have any other advice to get me to a healthy weight.

If you're counting calories, then a certain percent of those calories that you are taking in are supposed to be from fat. i read once in a health book that if you are eating 1500 calories a day your fat intake should be 50 grams or less. And 17 grams of saturated fat. The book also told me that Americans should eat no more than 30% of their calories as fat each day. If you would like to know more, I have a great book that is perfect for counting calories and fat grams. It is called THE FAT COUNTER, and it's author is Annette B. natow and Jo-Ann Heslin. It's really great for that kind of stuff. Hope that I have helped a little.
