instead of ordering whatever i want, and enjoying being out, (i'm worrying) i'd rather order the "right" thing and feel good about myself! we are going to a bbq place, and i don't know which is the lighter choice. beef brisket or pulled pork. ?? they have turkey breast, which sounds good, but if i eat any more chicken or turkey right now- i may go NUTS! could anyone give me an answer on this one?
this is the thing i hate most about watching my weight! i would normally get bbq chicken, but unless it's pulled chicken, i guess it's bad right? Help!
i'm not willing to let one night out mess up what i have done so far!
thanks for any input anyone can give me!

I can't really be much help (sorry) but I totally understand. It's mom's birthday weekend, and instead of enjoying myself I am worrying! Trying to figure out calories in my head, what I am going to order at dinner, if so and so is bad for me, etc.
All I can say is limit your calories for the day, pass on dessert, and if they give you a big heaping portion don't finish it! Share it with someone :)

BBQ chicken is fine, if you don't eat the skin. Just remember to eat all your veggies, or order a salad first, and don't be afraid to leave food on your plate.

Just wondering what is a pulled chicken? Is it skinless chicken?
Skip dessert have a good main meal and don't feel guilty. If you're sick of skinless chicken then go for a steak or fish.
I find if I stress over dining out it sets me up for the guilt rollercoaster the next day. Just be sensible don't worry about counting calories ..it will never be 100% accurate anyway.

hi! I was once in a weight awareness group back when I was a figure skater (back then, I was trying to put ON weight)lol. My mom was in the same group trying to lose weight. Our instructor said that she made a habit of immediately dividing the order in half and then immediately asking for a doggy bag. She ate half of the meal and took the other half home. I know it worked for my mom and it is now working for me. Whatever you do, use this time to ENJOY the company you are with, to talk and laugh. Chew everything until it is mush and set down your fork between bites. This helps me keep the food in perspective and I begin to see it as a side issue instead of worrying the whole time. hope this helps...

I travel from time to time on business, and eating in restaurants can be very difficult. I try to stay away from chains because their menus are ridiculous in the portion sizes, and are often highly fat laden. The very thing that attracts most of the customers. I find the Mom and Pop restaurants (smaller privately owned) have more reasonable portions for a better value Vs. more expensive ones. They often will prepare the food to your request in contrast to the chains who have a fixed menus, and preparation procedures.
You can do well in most places however by telling the wait staff of your preference, and asking their recommendations. Tell them you won't fault the cook for keeping it on the lean side.
You can't assume that because something might be the better choice, that it is going to be prepared in a healthier way. Grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli with rosemary red potatoes might sound like just what the doctor orderd, only to find the chicken pasted with a high fat salsa, cream sauce all over the broccoli, and the potatoes fried in butter.
Hopes this helps, it works most of the time for me.
