Hi! I have been reading all the new topics, and I am once again shocked with new information!

First, I thought fruit was GREAT when you're trying to lose weight-i try to grab fruit instead of something "bad", now i find out it's full of sugar!

I guess the more i read, the more confused i get!

i want ot lose weight! what should i be eating?????? i thought i was making good choices, but now i don't know!

thanks to anybody that can clear this up for me!!

fruits aren't bad things. they are a much better subsitute than candy or other processed sugars. most fruits have a lot of fiber in them too which is a good carb. people who are staying away from carbs so much that they have to stay away from fruit is a bit too drastic for my taste, and if you want just regular weight loss and healthy eating, eating fruit is fine. they are loaded with vitamins and also a nice little experiment is for one week, subsituting all the desserts you would eat (like that cookie, or that bowl of ice cream) for a fruit. much better choice.

Nancy, i'm in no way an expert on all nutritional facts, but, the sugar in fruits, like citrus fruits are NOT refined sugar, they are the natural Frutose sugar that is not bad for you, that is not high in any sort of calories, and, it's the kind of sugar that in no way can raise, or effect your Blood-sugar levals in your body. If someone wrote that eating natural whole fruits was bad for a diet/healthy eating plan, well then that person is a fool. Refined, or white Sugar that is in Candy, or Ice-cream is the kind you want to avoiding eating too much of.

Best wishes and...keep your chin up!

i think why most people stay away from fruits in general is because they are actually quite high in cals...eg a banana is 100 cals, and when adding that into the daily amounts it can add up...if u can fit fruit in the diet by all means, peaches are my fav:)

The fruits are good to eat. KEEP it up!!!!!! The sugar that are in them are considered good for you. They have their jobs in your body so keep eating them. You have to outweigh the pros and cons with all the foods you eat. For example a snicker taste good but has LOTS of fat. Now cereals u should look at the fiber intake and make sure it has low sugar. Sad things is you look at Honeycomb and cheerios and compare. It will drive you mad I say.
If I am not mistaken I think the grapes are the highest in sugar. Check it out but do eat them fruits n veggies n all that good stuff.

I don't know of too many people who are overweight because of eating too many fruits. Like some of the other posts have said, I think you can choose to eat some fruits more than others for calorie control, but I think any and all fruits should be eaten if you are not allergic. Citrus fruits are particularly good for you and frozen ones are higher in nutrients than ones from cans or bought in the produce section. The reason is that nutrients are lost the longer something is "off the vine/tree". Freezing stops this process. But I love a nice, tart Granny Smith apple and blueberries right off of the bush are wonderful!
