Hey
I have a question about how many calories you burn naturaly ( I mean no exercise, sorry) I am trying to make an approach toward my weight loss goal. I have seventeen pounds left to go (lost 3) but recently I can't seem to lose any more. I checked the internet for daily cal energy expenditure, and it said a sedentary woman burns 1600 cal daily without exercise, I was wondering if that was correct. Another thing is that I am only 16 yrs old, pertty much a woman, but I was wondering if my age was going to affect the number at all.

I think you are referring to your Basal Metabolic Rate - BMR.
Your BMR, or basal metabolic rate (metabolism), is the energy (measured in calories) expended by the body at rest to maintain normal bodily functions.
This continual work makes up about 60-70% of the calories we use ("burn" or expend) and includes the beating of our heart, respiration, and the maintenance of body temperature. Your BMR is influenced by a number of factors, including age, weight, height, gender, environmental temperature, dieting, and exercise habits.
The BMR calculators I've found ask for your age, so you should get a correct number. For weight loss, though, I wouldn't put too much thought into your BMR, just your calorie intake and your activity level.

Use the calorie calculator at www.practicalweightloss.com to find out what your calorie intake should be. You can do it different ways, sedentary, light everyday activities etc...don't worry about your BMR.
