I was just wondering if any of you have the same feelings.....
I weighed myself a week ago Sunday and found that I have reached my half-way point....down 50-lbs! I am 5'-10", so I still have a ways to go, but I lost 50-lbs!
People at work are starting to comment on my weight loss. They keep asking me how much have a I lost, how did I do it, etc. While I am personally excited that I have lost that much weight, I really don't want to tell everyone that I have lost 50-lbs and have 50 more to go. Maybe it is because I don't want them to know that I am/was THAT overweight. So, when they ask me I hem and haw and say that I have lost around 20 or so.
I know that I should have more self-confidence, but it is a little embarrassing. The gossip machine around here is awful. I am losing weight for myself, not so I can be the topic of conversation.
Am I the only one that feels this way? I am proud of myself, but ashamed that I got myself in that situation to begin with.
Melissa :)

I totally understand!
When I was in Weight watchers, they always give out rewards for your accomplishments (stars for every 5lbs, magnets for 25, 50, 75, etc, a key chain for losing 10% of your body weight and charms for reaching goals, etc). I hit my 10% goal and 25 lbs loss at the same meeting. I was rather embarassed to get both together because I felt that anyone with half a brain would be able to figure out how much I had weighed when I started and then weighed at the time (weight watchers is generally adamant about never revealing anyone's weight). I knew I had a long way to go still but I didn't want the others to think that as well.
Weight loss is a fairly personal issue and you have to do what is the most comfortable for you. Skinny people don't go around telling coworkers and aquaintances how much they weight, why should the rest of us?
Does anyone else find it a little forward for someone to be asking you how much weight you've lost?
You've done a great job and deserve all the compliments you are getting. Just remember that and handle the inquiring questions however you feel best.
Cheers,
Niki

Reminda of when people touch your tummy when you are pregnant, and ask how much you've gained. People mean well, but unless you've been there they just don't get it!

I guess I come @ it from a different view point. People have eyes. They saw me @ 297 and knew I was huge and they see me now and know I have more to go. I have no problem telling how much I've lost and how much I have to go. I'm proud of what I have accomplished and I think most people are proud of me too.

I agree partially with you Amy. I don't mind telling people how much I have lost!! I do it almost everyday... but I dont' tell people how much more I want to lose... lol
I've lost 52 lbs so far from my all time high of 350 pounds. ( i never tell people in person how much i used to weigh, I only post that info here) So now I am under 300!!!! weighing in at 298 I still have a very long row to hoe! I want to lose a bare minimum of another 110 lbs. That would put me under 190, so telling people that I inted to lose over 150 lbs all together is just too much. People tend to shrink back in disgust when they hear numbers like that. I can SEE THEM THINKING .... "ewww she weighed over 300 lbs!?" .... (Especially those that currently weigh under 150) I guess I'll hit my "half way point" somewhere around 80 lbs lost. Jeez that seems like forever from now!!!! But i intend to get there.
