Danika-
Congratulations on contacting a sensible weight-loss board such as this one! Here you will find much advice on losing weight, most of which boils down to eating right and exercising. My two children (and myself) are going through the same thing you are and I've been working with them on this.
Is your family overweight also? I've had to take any and all fattening/sugary foods out of my home. Possibly you could discuss this with your parents to help you out.
Also...and I cannot urge this enough because of your age and weight....PLEASE contact your family doctor. He/she can steer you towards a dietician and an either very low cost or no cost at all.
You said you wanted to lose weight my July, but, you didn't specify how much. Don't try to set your goals too high. About 14 months ago, I weighed 250 pounds, it took me that long to lose 74. It may take this long for you, maybe longer, maybe shorter. We are all different and all lose weight and different levels. Myself, I prefer the slow and steady approach, but, not all of the members of this board approach weight loss the same way.
Once again, please, please, please, talk to your parents and your family doctor. I'm sure they are just as worried about your weight (for health reasons) as you are and I'm sure they will do what they can.
Keep us posted!!

Hi,
I am 15 aswell. Shari has a lot of good points there, but you forgot to mention your height if your say 5'8'' then there is a weight based for you and your frame size and such I believe this web-site has an ideal weight calc.? Am I right? As well as the doctor thing. If your family is over weight like most of mine is then look into that maybe its just the food you eat or a gene that you have. SODA=BAD. I am in love with water and Diet Mt.Dew. Also keep a food diary it really helps as well. And because your a teen like me I am going to give yu another beautiful site www.fitteen.com it will so hlep you with exercises and everything being a teen and all. PLUS and last thing I am going to say promise DONT' STARVE YOURSELF. It doesn't help and your health wil just go down form there. Been there done that got a t-shirt don't wanna go back EVER!

Hi,
Welcome aboard!!!
Well first thing I would like to say to you is try to let go of that desparate feeling and just relax. You can lose weight. How? Well there is really only one way to do it. Cut back on your calorie intake--- that alone will do it or cut back and exercise. What are you eating? That's the first question. Second. Make a food routine that works for you and then stick to it. Once you do it for a few weeks or a month it will then become easy and way less stressful. For instance: You could have a cup of hot tea with 2 or 3 teaspoons of sugar in for breakfast along with a piece of fruit and a slice of whole wheat buttered toast. For lunch again you could have some fruit and maybe also a protein shake or something with a lot of calcium and protein in it. For dinner you can have one or two pieces of meat and two tablespoons of veggies a roll or a slice of bread. And then for your snack later on around nine pm or before nine pm you could have a whole bag or half a bag of heathy choice popcorn or a cup of jello or another protein shake. All very filling. Walk whenever you can as much as you can. Cut out juice and soft drinks and instead try to replace them with water. Also once in a while instead of a healthy dinner you could have a slice of pizza or half a chocalate bar or fast food. However since you want to be aware of every calorie that goes into your mouth. Always ask for a nutrition guide at the BK or the McDonalds or wherever. 1200 to 1500 calories a day is usually all that a body needs. Although if you are accustomed to eating 4 or 5000 thousand calories a day you may have to make this switch gradually in order to keep from feeling fatigued. This was just an example of how to lose weight. However everyone has to design their own plan as long as you don't go over a certain amount of calories each day. And also just remember that when you use up your allowed amount of cal's for the day that's eat. No more until the next day. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!!
