 HELP

I am a student and I my college we have a program called co-op, which allows students to work in their field anywhere from 3-6 months while earning credits. I am now on co-op I work from 9-5 and have absolutely no motivation to work out. In the morning I'm too tired to exercise and the same at night. I know my lack of energy comes from me not exercising because when I do exercise I feel great.

Last summer I lost 20 pounds and I have put 7 back on. I am in desperate need to lose the weight. I notice that I am not as unhappy because I don't have the confidence I had last year. I guess what I need is an energy supplement (maybe Xenadrine) or an energy drink (Slim Fast) does that really work? I eat healthy so that's not a problem. I just need to get moving again. Someone please help!!!!!

How long have you been in co-op? Did you have to make a lot of changes in your life (e.g. move to another place, change sleeping hours, work with a totally different set of people, etc.)?

Sometimes, we need a bit of time to adjust to a totally new situation, and certain things, like regular exercise, gets forgone to help out with the "stress" in this phase. If this is the case, just forgive yourself for this "necessary" temporary fall-out, and work out a goal/agreement with yourself as when you think you can reasonably really start to work out again given all these changes you've got to live with.

Take the first step, as scheduled, no matter how tired or unmotivated you are. It's usually the worst of it, and it gets better from then on. It's a vicious cycle - the longer you prolong getting back, the worse you'll feel, and the harder it is to get back even more - and it's all about breaking it.

Hey, I get into a "lazy" mood almost every day, but I know that as soon as I break sweat, that mood will be gone. Even better, I feel really good afterwards. And I'm sure you know how addicting this euphoric feeling is. Yup, you just got to take that first step all over again. And I do not think you'll really need an energy supplement (other than maybe a cup of coffee) to start you off on any "slow" day. Exercise itself will give you that high.

One specific tip: it helps me out greatly when I pack my gym bag and pick out my work-out clothes and lay them out the night before.

Goodluck! We'll all be rooting for you.

 Can you change your situation

For me, I will not get out of bed, workout, and then go to work. However, I will get up 20-30 mintues earlier to walk TO work. It's not a perfect aerobic workout - I don't sweat a lot, and I'm not panting by the time I get in, but it's SOMETHING. It's 30 minutes of walking that if I wait until later in the day, I may not do.
Can you somehow force yourself to do exercise? If you have a lunch break, can you walk or climb stairs for 10 minutes of it? Can you have a little cup of coffee at 4:30?

You might do well on an energy supplement (legal speed). I take 1 dexatrim natural (small amount of caffine and ephedra) in the morning rather than drink coffee. It gives me a little kick-start without feeling like I'm tweeking out. And if I'm planning to stay up later than 10pm (say on a Friday night) I take another one at 5pm. I think that the bottle says take 4 a day, but that's too much for me.

Also, like another person said, you may need time to adjust. It literally took me almost a year to adjust to being to work by 8am. Getting up at 6:30 just isn't natural for me. I'm watching my SO go through the same thing with his new job - he comes home and crashes out at 8pm.... it's exhausting to start work!

I've been on co-op for a month and a half. I stopped by CVS to pick up some Slim Fast. Hopefully that will help.

Slimfast is just a meal replacement...it wont make you lose weight, especially if your diet is fine like you said it was...Xenedrine, well....start on a low dose, the amount of side effects are well documented so be careful.

Slimfast has also got a lot of sugar, unless they changed it. Go to a health food store, they have lots of energy drinks if thats what you are looking for, without all the sugar. Jill

Hello Kmimi,

Go to:

http://www.absolutelythin.com/approach/dailyCalculator.asp

Fill your numbers in the daily calculator and hit "Calculate."

When your number comes out write it down and save it.

Subtract 500 calories from the number and then start eating that number of calories per day and you will lose one (1) pound per week.

Good Luck,

R.E.

Hello. I came across some interesting atricle, if you search "artichoke extract" one of the things it helps is low in energy, plus a lot of great heath benifits, I just bought some yesterday to try it. cause Im like you, tired most of the time, some times I feel like droopy the dog cause i feel my face is sagging. Read about it before you buy it, Maybe it will help you.
