I need some advice on a good diet. I need to change my eating habits and I don't know where to start. I weigh 175, and am in desperate need to lose. Please help me!

Hi Teresa and welcome to the board! You will find alot of very knowledgable folks here who are super supportive. I started by keeping a food journal and writing down everything I ate and drank and adding up all of the calories. I also use a food book from Calorie King so that helped alot. I also cleaned out my cabinets of anything processed, i.e., junk foods, and started buying only fresh fruit and vegetables, no canned stuff because of the higher levels of sodium. You might want to look at FitDay.com. You have to register but it's free and it's a great way to keep up with what you are eating and your various activities. You didn't mention if you do any type of exercise...for me, I have to combine watching what I eat with some kind of exercise EVERY DAY!! It's not always fun but I know I'm better off for it and when I can actually see a muscle in the mirror, it feels pretty darn good! Welcome Teresa!! I agree with what Dawn said,the food journal is sooo important in my opinion.That is what started me out,that and this support group.I weigh 212 and have lost 9lb in about 6-7weeks.Good luck and glad you're here!! LOL :-)
